"But why?"
*Christine looked at him sadly*
"We've known each other since we were children- he risked his life to save me once. Why would he want to hurt me?"

((... I'm having the ridiculous urge to have Quasi fall in love with Christine. And I DONT. KNOW. WHY.))

((She'll be nice to him. As long as he doesn't kill people or pretend to be her father.))

((Pretty much none of those things. He's kind of ridiculously innocent.))

"But why?" *Christine looked at him sadly* "We've known each other since we were children- he risked his life to save me once. Why would he want to hurt me?" *His eyes softened.* "I don't know, Christine. I just wanted to be sure. Sometimes people... Well. There must be something wrong. But I'm not sure it's safe for you to hide here--do you think he'll come looking?"

"I don't know. He might..."
*She looked back at him*
"This is a terribly forward thing for me to ask, and I'll understand if you say no. But do you think you could hide me where you live?"

"Of course," *he said gently.* "I'm between places right now; I've got my suitcase here, actually. There's a motel, out of the way. He won't think to look there. You'll be safe with me."

"I don't know how to thank you."

*Edward waved it off.*
"It's nothing. Anyone who'd do less for you is a fool. Come on; if he's looking for you, he'll look here first."
*Ed picked up his suitcase ((and Christine's stuff if she brought any)) and offered her his arm.*

*Christine took his arm*
"I just hope he doesn't make trouble..."

*Edward paused and looked down at her seriously.*
"If he does, he will find himself in trouble... himself."

True to his word, the Persian began spending more time at the Opera. It was not merely the mystery he'd found there, or the music he found he appreciated more than he'd expected. There was a lure to the place for him he could not explain, though he was not interested in coming up with a superstitious explanation for it.
Whether he became familiar or not, he was recognized and heard whispers follow him. It was a lonely life, Paris, so far. He tried not to let the stares, the wards, the talk deter him. It would be the same no matter where he went, and he had been resigned to them for some time.
But today there was another man, one not watching him, was far more interesting. He knew immediately that there was a connection, but it did not seem merely the recognition of a fellow countryman. He watched him quietly for some moments.
