Moonshade shrugged indifferently and studied her fingernails.
"My father knows an Elven woman who is engaged to someone from Hyrule."
If the grownups were going to ignore her anyways, she could at least make it interesting.

Midna had looked away from the girl for that, not really expecting an answer from Tsume. However, on hearing that sentence, she suddenly whirled in the air, red eyes widening.
"What?! What did you say? You mean you...can actually get to Hyrule from here? And...uh, out of curiousity, who's engaged?"
((Oh, man...stand back. If she hears that it's Link...))

"Wolfriders?" Kiba asked, distracted as Moonshade spoke. "Wolves... that live with elves?"
Kiba lived with humans--he wouldn't deny that. But she was implying that these wolves spent their entire lives with those elves. The old wolf Zali flashed into his head; he and his pack had given up Paradise, their pride, and their own freedom, living out miserable lives as beasts of burden.
"They're nothing more than dogs," he told her. "We may live with humans, but we don't degrade ourselves and obey their every whim."

Moonshade chuckled with laughter at the reactions of both the new people.
"First thing first. No, you can't get to Hyrule from exactly here, unless you get the powerful shamans Leetah or Wildfeather to open a portal for you. The elf from Hyrule that is engaged to an Elvish woman, is named Link. They are very happy together, from what I hear."
She looked at Kiba.
"Never call the wolves there dogs. They are anything but. The wolves are wild and live in freedom. There is a brotherhood between the elves and the wolves. The Wolfriders actually are part wolves, because they turn into wolves when they are... doing grown stuff that my parents never talk about in front of me."

Midna was not amused herself, and frowned sourly. "It figures," she muttered--though she could create portals herself, she hadn't been able to get there, so she could take one back...at least until she heard the next sentence.
"WHAT did you say?!" Her jaw actually dropped, and for a moment she looked numb from shock. Then it became anger. "How could he! That...that...aaaargh! After a-all we'd been through together, and the way he looked--I--bastard!" As she raved, the energy around the outside of the ring burst up brighter than before.

Moonshade had never been in love her entire life. So she had no idea why Midna was reacting like she did. She looked at Midna with her violet eyes.
"Did I say something wrong?"
She asked innocently, pure of heart as she was, totally unknowing of betrayal, jealousy or rage. Those were feelings she had never felt.

Her own red eyes smoldering, and stinging from tears, Midna turned back to the girl, her teeth clenched. "N-no...it's not your fault...but if that is the same Link--and it must be--he is going to pay for playing with my heart! What was the matter? Was I not pretty enough for him?! But he saw me as I really am...and the way he took care of me when I was dying...why doesn't he...I..." She broke down into tears, her second outburst in less than half an hour. Maybe she did need to see a therapist, but this was understandable, at least. "D-don't ever fall in love..." she advised Moonshade through her tears.

Moonshade looked over at Midna, and her innocent and pure heart was filled with compassion. Like the child she still was, her own eyes filled with tears when Midna started crying, and she approached the woman gently, wrapping her arms around her and hugged her.
"I don't know how it feels to love anyone. But if it is as painful as this, I will try not to."
In her naivety, she thought that she could control her heart and her inner emotions. She was still very new in life. She looked up at Midna again.
"I wish you found someone who wasn't mean to you. I think you are pretty now, even if I don't know who you really are. I am sure you are pretty then too."

As wrapped up in her sorrow and hurt as she was, Midna still looked up slowly when she felt herself embraced. "Huh...?" She hadn't expected that, at all, and for a moment she merely sniffled.
Then, she managed a weak smile, genuinely touched by the child's compassion for someone she had just met. "No...you wouldn't have yet...but it's just..." she gave up trying to explain it, shaking her head and giving the girl a soft hug back. Well, she could try to avoid it...
"You're sweet," she murmured. "I thought we really had something, too..." She sighed, wiping away a tear with her hair. "Uh? I...am? Really? Well...thank you," was all she could think of to say, grateful at least. "Oh, I don't think I said...I-I'm Midna, the Twilight Princess. Who are you, honey?"

Tsume had to admit, the baffled look on Kiba's face after Moonshade corrected him was more preferable to his snarling, murderous rampage. To be honest, neither wolf could quite grasp that concept, but Kiba in particular was having trouble with it.
"I don't know if our world had a name," he answered Midna. "Humans are the ones with the naming obsession--it was OUR world, that's all we needed to know."
Everyone here's such a pushover, he thought with a scoff, unwittingly echoing Kiba's sentiments. One romantic setback and the chick was acting like this world was ending? Some leader SHE was.
"Kiba--you wanna meet those wolves after we're done?" he asked.

Moonshade tore off a piece of her skirt and wiped off Midna's tears.
"There, is that better?"
She asked softly, and smiled when she got a soft hug back. She didn't understand what Midna meant with that something she had together with that man from the place with the funny name, but if it ended with tears, she hoped she never got in that situation.
"Wow, are you a PRINCESS?"
Her violet eyes sparkled with stars and her voice was filled with admiration.
"I've never seen a Princess before. I am Moonshade. Just Moonshade, no titles or anything else exciting. My parents are elves, and my father works in the capitol. Which is why I know everything that happens there."

Midna didn't want anyone to upset her right now...she'd probably snap on them pretty violently. It was, then, a relief to see Kiba stop foaming at the mouth and attacking everyone. In response, she didn't even bother with a comeback, just nodding slightly in his direction.
Had she heard Tsume's thoughts, even calm she would have been insulted. Give her a break: she was 17, she'd been responsible for running an entire dimension, and she had just fought in a world-shattering battle. Didn't she deserve to be a little fragile right now? On the other hand, she didn't know much about the horror show they'd gone through.
Either way, she sniffled slightly, letting the elf girl dab at her eyes. "I...think I'm gonna be okay for now," she replied, nodding gently. Also seeing the girl's eyes sparkle, she smiled.
"As a matter of fact, I was. And am, I suppose, if I could ever find a way to get home." Her ears perked up, though not noticeably, at her comment. "Oh, you do, sweety? Is that how you learned about this? ...Do you know anything else about it? I bet you're a good listener!"

Moonshade giggled and looked over at Kiba.
"With that shaving foam around your mouth, you look like my father when he gets up in the morning. I can show you where the wolf riders live later. But only if you don't kill them."
Then she looked over at Midna and smiled again.
"If you speak to our shamans, Leetah or Wildfeather, I am sure that one of them can help you back to your country. I can ask father to arrange a meeting if you would like to meet any of them."
By Midna's comment, she blushed with joy. Finally an adult who noticed her!
"I know everything. The adults are so busy they never notice I'm around. So I can hear everything they talk about. Except... they never talk about... adult stuff when I'm around."

Shaking her head slightly at Moonshade's innocence, Midna took a deep breath and managed to relax, not crying any longer. She smiled back at the elf, and nodded.
"Thank you; I would very much appreciate it." She had decided: she would find a way with them to travel back and forth between the worlds so she could go into the Twilight Realm and rule there, but be here as well to do...what she was planning to do. Seeing the cute blush on Moonshade's cheeks, she smiled wider. "Oh, I bet! Don't worry, you wouldn't like that stuff yet, anyway; only grownups are silly enough to talk it about it out loud. Oh...speaking of which, how old is this fiancee?"

Moonshade looked up at Midna and smiled, noticing she wasn't crying anymore.
"I'll tell my father to get you a meeting as soon as possible. He is going back to the capital soon."
She giggled when Midna talked about the adult stuff. And when she asked about Link's fiancee, she giggled even more.
"Oh, she's old. Ancient. At least 18!!!"
