A day's march from the Waterfalls of Ered Luín, was the Village of Ered Luín. So hidden among the trees and rocks were the tiny houses of Elvish style, that nobody would notice there was a village there, unless they knew it was there and came looking for it. It blended in with the landscape, and was well hidden, almost invisible for the human eye.
Perhaps it was this camuflage which had kept the villagers safe for hundreds of years. The Elves here were living in peace and harmony, connected to the earth and to each other. It was perhaps the happiest of all the Elven cities of Lorien. The elves here went hunting and gathering, like they had done for centuries, and they lived in beautiful surroundings.
It was to this village the young Elf maiden Moonshade went, crossing over the green meadows, where sheep were munching happily on the grass.

The sheep were still avoiding Tsume and Kiba, with the closest ones actually drawing back as the wolves approached. It probably didn't help that Kiba was still looking around intently, his real form sniffing around to make sure Menelaus hadn't been here yet.
"Lighten up, Kiba--you're scaring them," Tsume told him.
"They've been scared ever since they realized we were here," he answered irritably. "It's not like I'm hunting them or anything."

Helen smiled and squeezed Kiba gently, caressing his hair. He was so cute when he was irritated.
"Of course you're not hunting them."
She smiled and looked around. Then she lowered her voice and whispered.
"Has Menelaus been here yet?"

"No," Kiba answered. "He hasn't been here yet. And if he has, it's been so long that the others' scents have covered his completely."
Hey, he's carrying someone! One of the braver sheep noticed. Maybe he's not a wolf?
He smells like a wolf, pointed out a ewe. And he looks like a wolf--a really big one!
If he's carrying a human, maybe he was raised by them, retorted the first ram. Tame wolves always listen to humans.
Kiba's real form snarled at the remark, and the sheep retreated again. "Idiots. Just because I'm carrying someone doesn't mean I'm their servant. And she's not slowing me down at all, so getting on my nerves will be your last mistake."

Somehow Rin hadn't felt like going to stay at the inn; perhaps it would have felt too strange. Instead, she'd been walking for a week or so (she'd lost track), and had wound up here. Wherever here was. There didn't seem to be any sign of civilization.
She was just reflecting back to Tsume's warning earlier, and snorted. Yeah, really dangerous. I haven't even seen anybody else--
Well, maybe she'd spoken too soon, as she caught sight, and scent, of someone only a hundred yards or so up ahead. She stepped out of cover, squinting in the sunlight which only added to her headache, to see who it was.

Tsume stopped as he caught scent of someone; that something-not-human lady who'd been passing by Le Rouge et L'Epine. She was a little bit far--about a hundred yards--but she wasn't catching up very quickly.
What a coincidence.

Sure enough, in a moment Rin caught sight of the little group ahead. Immediately, she recognized the wolfman (for lack of a better term) from the woods, and sighed. Gee, what a stroke of luck. She didn't fail to notice beside him, either, a large wolf, and white--like he'd mentioned, must be the alpha. The fact that he was carrying a woman on his back and merely menacing some sheep, however, didn't exactly add to the intimidation value.
Slowly, she strolled over in their general direction, turning to keep her face as much shaded as possible.

Helen was still sitting at Kiba's back. She looked curiously at the sheep, then back to Kiba.
"The sheep seems to be afraid of you," she whispered. "How is it that they notice who you are, but not the little elf maid who found us. And who is the girl who is following us from a distance?"

*From a nearby tree, which I am sure there are plenty off since this Lorien for crying out loud, a dark magical orb came flying toward the small group of, for lack of a better word, people. It hit the ground close to the white wolf, in an exploding mess.
The source of this dark magic was a teenage boy, sitting in a tree looking down at the group. Beraht had been tracking these people for a while now and he had decided that they didn't belong.
Plus they looked like they'd be a good fight.*

*Moonshade gasped when she noticed a dark magical orb flying against them. It happened before she got the chance to warn anyone. She looked around to see if she could see who had sent the orb, and noticed a teenage boy in a nearby tree. Her violet eyes looked innocently up at him, while she wondered who he was. She had never seen him before.... Was he really an elf? No humans could send orbs like that....* ((This is what Moonshade looks like))

Rin immediately jumped back, startled and grateful that she hadn't approached too closely. Turning, she followed its path up into the tree, and glared at the...elven (?) person up there, moving forward at a swifter pace. This was not going to improve her mood, and she was fairly pugilistic anyway when in a bad mood.
Ignoring the others for a moment, she called out, "You gonna stay up there and just shoot at us? Damn coward!"

Kiba was about to answer Helen that animals could talk with each other with no problem (whether Kiba minded or not depended on how he was feeling) when the sudden blast of magic hit close to him.
He jumped instinctively--it didn't hit him, but the resulting explosion of dirt and grass would have blinded him and Helen for a few minutes.
"Helen, get off!" He snarled, dropping his disguise and checking the trees for whoever had attacked him. Tsume, help me find him!

Tsume followed Kiba's order immediately--Not-Human-Lady could wait until they'd taken care of the other guy.
He pinpointed the attacker's location in the branches of a nearby tree. Damn it--WOLVES DID NOT CLIMB TREES. He kind of wished he was a cat; the kid who'd done that was obviously in the trees, unless he could fly...
"He's here!" Tsume told him. "Any pointers, Kiba?"

As a matter of fact, Kiba did have advice--meaning, he waited until Helen got off before sprinting to the base of the tree and jumping, jaws clamping down on the nearest limb-shaped object.
Unfortunately, he did not get the attacker, since he'd jumped to action so quickly; the object he'd grabbed was only a tree branch. Nevertheless, he shook violently to break it off, landing somewhat clumsily with the extra weight throwing off his balance.
The white wolf dropped it and ran off to get another running start, breaking off another branch.
He can't stay in the tree if I break off all the branches, can he? Help me out! He called to Tsume.

Rin suddenly realized that that maybe standing right there wasn't a good idea, no matter how annoyed she might be. Whoever this was, he obviously wasn't going to play fair. Fortunately, she wasn't helpless.
Seeing the opportunity, she dashed forward, grateful that she was physically fit. Following the wolf's lead (not that she'd have wanted to) she practically hurled herself at the tree, catching a hold of some loose bark and actually managing to brace herself as she yanked off another limb herself.
