*Genghis rolled his eyes, still facing away from her.*
Princesses...they all think they are so clever.
"I will see you for supper then, Princess. You will be dressed appropriately for it. And you will not be lonely during your stay."
*He gestured deftly to the guards who pulled her into a tent in view of Genghis's where she was shackled and chained to the center post. She was kept under constant guard.*
Never a dull moment.
*Genghis reentered his tent, hoping to check on Emily. Not that he would ever admit that purpose.*

*Emily was lounging on a cushion, reading. She glanced up at Genghis came into the tent.*
"What was all the noise about?"

*Genghis sighed.*
"There is a princess. She drove her carriage through the camp. Destroyed two tents and a load of supplies. She is waiting to be collected by her lord."
*His brow furrowed in contemplation.*

*Emily's eyebrows shot up.*
"Really? Her lord wasn't with her? Like, a princess travelling alone? No chaperone, nothing? Through YOUR campsite? Damn. That's stupid."

*Genghis's expression grew sterner.*
"It was. And now she will have time to think about it. She should not be so rude to one that she has already insulted in deed."

*Genghis looked back to her, tilting his head slightly, his eyes slightly wounded.*
You think so little of me?
"No. I restrained myself. She benefited much from your presence and influence."

((*chants* I will not go all Anna Leonowens on his ass, I will not go all Anna Leonowens on his ass, I will not go all Anna Leonowens on his ass.))
*She looked up at Genghis steadily.*
"...you mean to say you would have, had I not been here?"

*Genghis stiffened slightly, but did not look away from her, his eyes uncomfortable, but honest.*
"No. I merely mean that your presence has...encouraged more refined behavior. Do you not think I have made progress?"

"You know, I think you have," *she mused.*

"I am pleased to hear that."
*He turned away to begin a ransom letter.*

*Emily picked up a bowl that sat beside her and casually held it out to Genghis.*
"Cherry? They're fresh off the trees."
