"Me," he said, now sounding on the verge of giggles.
"I'm allllll wrong."

"Oh my" Louis took another couple steps and stopped a few feet behind him "I don't understand..."
((Louis taking a step out of my book, I totally do this when someones close to hysteria, just far enough away that they wont lash out, but close enough if they need it.))

((This is a good idea with teh crazy that is Daniel))
"I'm broken. I've been broken for a long time, see? I don't fix, I just break some more."
He shook his head, and some odd semblance of his usual calm was back, though it seemed rather thin.
"How about you?"

"I-I'm afraid I'm starting to, accept myself" he whispered "but that is unimportant-"

He tilted his head to one side, curious in spite of his own inner turmoil.
"What do you mean? That you don't cry over mortals anymore?" Now that would be an interesting development, wouldn't it?

Louis closed his eyes tightly "I do not cry over my own mortality" he sighed "and what would it matter if I did?"

He blinked at him.
"What do you mean, your mortality? That's long gone. Why in the world would you cry over that?"
That was just strange.
"There's no reason to cry over mortals." He said simply.

"Why?"

"Whyyyy?" Came the response, his tone suggesting that the answer should be obvious.
"There's nothing to cry about."
There was a shine to his eyes, a shine that undercut his words as it was the shine of unshed tears...there was something in the back of his mind arguing with him.

Louis laughed "You sound like Lestat."

Daniel glared daggers at Louis.
"Don't EVER compare me to him AGAIN." He snapped.
It was almost too easy to be angry at Louis, not because Louis had done anything grievous to him--simply because anger drowned out anything else.

"And why not? You both have no conscious to speak of, you act as though this truly is a gift, but it isn't Daniel. It's a curse, we've been cursed."

He was on his feet in a flash, not touching Louis, although there was a threat hovering in the air around him.
"You're a fool. It is a gift, and you're wasting it whining about how horrible it is and oh, woe is me."
But no, he couldn't just stand back. He grabbed Louis by the lapels.
"I don't have a conscience? You don't know a goddamned thing about me if...if you..." His voice was cracking, and it was a fight, between that control and the built-up emotions, and in the end...
He let go, stumbling away from, Louis, and yes, the tears were coming now, weren't they?
"You don't know me." He ground out, sounding strangled now.
"You don't..."

Louis straightened out his jacket and looked down at Daniel, it was a first for Louis, to be the one that was slightly sane in the situation.
"No Daniel, I don't, but it isn't as if you'd let anyone in, would you?"

"I can't." He sobbed. "I can't do that."
