"You will be respected as a gentleman, if you wish to move about the town without suspicion, Master. I will appear to be your footman. Butler, driver, gentleman's gentleman. Is this not what you desire? To remain undetected."
He cowered a bit, confused as to the Elder's motives.

"It, I mean I suppose it is, Marlow. Just so much has changed. I do not know this world as I once did. I miss the days, before the humans were everywhere. You're too young to remember, Marlow, but once, we ruled supreme."
Vicente drifted into a rare moment of contemplation. There was the one thing It was not telling Marlow.
It's next slumber will be eternal.

"The new world is exciting, Uram!"
He straightened and grinned at his master.
"Come, I will take you to our new home. Can you scale down the wall? You may use my back for strength."

"It does not need your assistance!"
It's pride was bruised that It's weakness wasn't concealed. It pushed ahead of Marlow and began to quickly scale down the wall. It lost grip and fell the final 20 feet, landing on It's back and wincing, but clamoring to It's feet before Marlow reached the ground."

Marlow, on the other hand, was strong and fast. Fit. The eternal life of undeath had not yet begun to weight on him, though he only perhaps a millennium younger than the Elder. Older than the rest. He knew one day Vicente would be careless, would be destroyed or would go into the endless sleep, and then he, Marlow, would be Uram.
His eyes narrowed when his feet touched the ground. Perhaps he should begin cultivating his own Bairn.

Vicente sensed something different in Marlow, but for now, decided to keep quiet.
"Take me to our... 'home'."

He nodded and led the way through the streets. The kept to the darker lanes until the reached a very plain townhouse, to which Marlow held the key.
The place was inexpensively furnished. Two chairs in a parlor, an empty kitchen (what could the possibly need that for), and three rooms on the second floor.
[There are clothes for you, Father, in your room. There is no bed--and there is no ridiculous coffin--just a mound of earth for you to rest in.]

*Julian followed along silently, keeping to the shadows. Though still upset about his chain, this was turning out to be more interesting than he had imagined.*

"Marlow, this pleases me."
Vicente stood near the mound and turned to face him, gesturing for him to leave It.
"Close the door behind you, Marlow. I wish to be left alone right now."

The younger nodded, frowning a bit, and left his master alone, moving through the house restlessly. Hungry.

*Julian manifested behind the creature, though he was still translucent.*
"Who is he?"
*He nodded towards the door.*

Vicente turned to the figure. It had expected him to be there, though It didn't know for sure, the not-human had been rather stealthy.
"He is your charge, now." Vicente flashed a gnarly smile. "It wants you to watch over him when It is not around. Something troubles It about Marlow. It must know that Marlow has remained trustworthy over all this time."

*Julian frowned. He didn't want to be reduced to an errand boy.*
"And what do I get in return?"

((Shouldn't we be moving this to a residence or something?))
"In return? Perhaps It will return your prize. Though, once you are whole, not-human, It will not hesitate to kill you."

((Yes. You can start a thread in Everywhere Else or ask Erik (Kris) to make you a new house subforum.))
"That doesn't seem like much of an incentive."
*Julian stood his ground.*
