After the jog with Nina, Adrian had gone back inside to shower and was by now shaving in front of the mirror in the master bathroom. His hair, still damp, showed suspiciously silvery at the root in a few places along his part, but it wasn't enough to necessitate recoloring just yet.

Dan moved decidedly slowly in to the bedroom, his hands lightly clenched in the pockets of his board shorts.
The morning had been eventful and he was still having trouble fully connecting with the situation. The vacation he'd been hoping for had taken a wrong turn somewhere and he was determined to salvage what he could.
He worried for Megan most of all, whatever had happened on that bluff had Dan anxious and he prayed it wasn't too late.
He heard the water running in the bathroom and edged to the door. Inside Adrian stood tall and elegant as he shaved; Dan always felt a little like a caveman who'd just discovered his own reflection whenever he did.

Adrian glanced up at him and smiled gently midway through a stroke of the razor. He had mostly finished, and was by now going over the remaining small white streaks left on his face between the longer strokes.

Dan watched with a keen interest, getting lost in his movements.
He distracted himself with this, distracted himself in Adrians gentle strokes, distracted himself with the way his wet hair lay against his robe, distracted himself with his smile.
If he'd been watching himself he'd have become fully aware of the glassy eyed unattachment of his expression.

"Have you had a good look around yet?" he asked, bending to rinse.

"Mmm?" Dan was pulled suddenly from his own mind "Oh, yea, yea."

He stood up and checked his reflection, pausing with a small frown at how his hair was already inching over the collar of his robe.

Dan couldn't help but smile, but turned his eyes quickly toward the ground.

"If I had known you were coming, I would have waited for you, you know. "

Dan chuckled and leaned his back against the door frame, stretching his neck upwards toward the ceiling.
"I hadn't intended on heading back in so quickly-" he stopped as Megan's almost delirious face flashed in his mind; he closed his eyes "-but I'll make sure to keep you aware of my whereabouts for the next time."

"I'll remember that, " Adrian teased, approaching him now. "Though on second thought, you have a bad habit of getting distracted when I'm around, so perhaps showering separately is a better idea after all."

"Distractions aren't all bad" he kept his eyes closed, removing the windows to keep Adrian from looking in.

"You know," he said, toweling his hair, "I don't mean to humblebrag, but I truly never understood what the appeal of my own face is meant to be. I'm flattered, of course, but you're seeing something I'm not, I suspect. "

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" Dan replied without irony "when I look at the mirror I see every imperfection, every crease and every scar. I see a broken jaw, a few broken noses and an eye that sits a few millimeters further down than the other one. I imagine you see much the same when you look at yourself, but when I look at you I see laugh lines you try to hide, I see the way the light hits your eyes during a sunset. I imagine other people aren't quite so poetic and see a the general attractiveness of your face, but you get my point."

Adrian laughed fondly.
"You're rather effusive this morning."
