John had missed that smile.
"You miss my spaghetti and you know it."

Treszka reddened a bit.
"Oh, well, it's not much. I don't really cook a whole lot. I usually order out."

Up to now he'd been busy being himself and stuffing his face, but paused in the midst of it to ask,
"So, how'd you meet?"

Marie turned so that only Treszka could see her face and smiled conspiratorially, before turning back to her family with a whole different smile.
"We just happened to both really be in to the same type of books" she added casually "it was nice to meet somebody with similar tastes, because oh my god do the girls at school not have the same interests as I do. Although my roomate, Nattie, is a nice girl, she's really quiet and comes from this rich Russian family and spends most of her time with her boyfriend and reads mostly literature and doesn't really speak much" she rambled on for another minute about how Nattie sometimes forgets to speak English with her.

Hazel only half listened to her sister talk as she was too busy filling her face with everything she could.

John just laughed.
He was glad his daughter had made a friend that was outside of the family.

Treszka was grinning by the time Marie finished.
"Your roommate sounds awesome. I wonder if I could meet her sometime? I wonder if she'd be nerdy enough to like Batman?"

László looked thoughtful for a moment.
"Hey, isn't there a guy with that name in Paris?"

"Bat-man?"

Marie swallowed "Yea! He's a super hero! And I don't know if Nattie would even know what a comic book was. She's cool though."

Treszka turned almost...misty-eyed for a moment.
"Superheroes are real." She said dreamily.

Treszka blushed, realizing that László had noticed.
"Well, uh, duh! They're cool!" She said, feeling the heat in her cheeks.
