László looked like he didn't quite know what to say. He still had a lot conflicting feelings about the upper class, but for this moment he would err on the side of friendly. Marie had a good head on her shoulders, so she'd have friends who did, too, right?
He gave the two a shy smile.

John stood up with a friendly smile, he returned the bow but only slightly. "A pleasure to meet you Zacharie. I'm John this is my daughter Marie and my partner Laszlo my youngest daughter Hazel is here too, but she's very much asleep."
He'd spent enough time pandering to the upper class for funds that he'd learned their mannerisms. He was respectful, but kept his pride. "How long have you two known each other?"
He was a father after all it was a natural question.

"Well...we met...hmm. I'd say four months ago? Almost literally ran into each other." She said, giggling.

"It is a pleasure to meet you all," he said, well aware of the faint undercurrent of tension running through the room. It wasn't something he was entirely unused to, though normally it happened when around other nobles who knew his family name. He was left a bit confused by John's use of "partner". Partners in what?
"But assuredly, we met in a picturesque setting, if I may say."
((Yeah, Zach is very much 19th century has no idea what the heck John meant about Laszlo. xD))

"Four months" John smiled, it wasn't a very long time, but what right did he have to dictate love. He'd fallen head over heels for Laszlo not long after meeting him.
"It is beautiful out here" John leaned down and left a loving kiss on the top of Laszlo's head "the weather is perfect and if I am not over stepping my bounds Treszka how about we put a kettle on have a spot out on in your lovely garden?"

Marie took her friends arm and grinned conspiratorially "I'll help."

László had to hide his grin when he saw the look of consternation on Zachaire's face when John kissed him. To better cover it up, he got to his feet and stretched.
"Would be nice to step out for a bit." He said.

Treszka only realized it when she saw László smirk, then glanced at Zachaire who was already covering up his expression.
Oh, dammit. He's still very 19th century. He makes it easy to forget.
Well, they'd just have to have a talk about it later.
"Uhhh...yeah. Sure."
Treszka threw a glance at John. She really hoped he didn't pull some weird dad thing. She barely knew him and his family, and well...the only one allowed to act that way was beyond any reach.

Zachaire, surprised as he may be, was still well-bred enough to not show it any more than the little bit that László noticed. Within moments, it was covered up entirely.
"Sounds delightful."

John smiled.
He had no intention of lecturing the boy, he didn't know him nor did he know Treszka well enough to do so. His intentions were to get outside to the air and have some tea.
As they walked outside he inhaled deeply "What a beautiful country, it's so nice to get outside of the city for a while. Paris is beautiful but it can get a little bland after a while."

With a giggle Marie plodded in to the kitchen and turned to Treszka barely containing herself "He is cute".
She jumped up on the counter "And so proper!"

"I couldn't agree more," he said, taking in the vista around the cottage. Whoever had built the cottage had had a good eye.
"There's something to be said for having a home in the countryside."

"Well, he's purely 19th century--he's never seen or done anything modern. All grown up in a certain way. But at the same time, he seems a lot more progressive than a lot of folks like him."

"We live right in the heart of the city" John said as he looked out in to the wide open spaces "this view makes it all seem very small." He looked over at Laszlo with a smile. His partner looked even more handsome in the natural light.
