What little organization held sway in the surrounding Twili soldiers broke down into an epic, confused retreat in all directions. Between the return of the sun, Dr. Horrible's Nightmare Fuel, and Midna's rampage, those Twili that could fled for the portal, those cut off by the clusterf**k fight in front of the opera retreating into the alleys and buildings to get a measure of cover from the onslaught.
None of this registered to Azula though, the fallen princess hard pressed to keep from falling apart entirely. She spotted one of Midna's inadvertently hurled projectiles going for her head and tumbled to one side, the impact kicking up rock-dust. She locked eyes on one of the Avatar's massive wind, no... Midna's limbs, jumping back to chop a scythe of blue flame at the offending target. Her eyes darted to all sides, guard up against the dozen odd flickering enemies she could vaguely see through the haze around her.
Some of them were real. Some weren't. But right now Azula knew she couldn't tell the difference so she'd have to watch all of them... All the time... Agni, Agni, Agni..! A Katara hallucination received a fireball to the head during this time, the shot flying out to dissipate against some stone work.

Oh fuck it, Azula breathed some of it in! Billy realized. She was physically fine, but it was very clear that she'd started hallucinating--and with all the fire she was now free to shoot around, that wasn't good for him.
Billy dodged a fireball that the firebender accidentally shot at him, searching the street for wherever Richard was. He had to take over the world, and he couldn't do that if Richard was alive.

Kiba nearly paused as the strange-smelling gas formed--and Midna's sudden transformation, while it didn't terrify him (he'd taken down several machines that were about her size), put him on-guard immediately.
But suddenly, the streets were replaced with a huge, desolate expanse of ice. Ice, water, ground... and nothing else.
Where is everyone? He thought frantically, sniffing the air and ground. The scents of the soldiers were there--but they were faded to almost nothing. If they were gone, then where were Tsume and Helen?!
"Tsume? Helen?" He called, jumping to a higher point in the ice. "Where are you?"
Is this world dead, too? He gave up fighting on the ice, since there was nobody TO fight, and started howling as loudly as possible. He wasn't alone, was he? He couldn't be, Tsume and Helen were safe! But he's not answering...
Despite his growing panic, another howl sprang from his throat. The sound echoed desperately through the streets, barely heard amongst the chaos of the fight.

Rinoa had been relaxing in her hotel room, minding her own business, when the sun blacked out. Having a clear view of the window meant she could see the point of origin for the surely sinister spell, in the direction of the opera house. Unfortunately, getting out and running in pitch black was a bit of a touch and go matter until the sun for some glorious reason came back on. Also she remembered she had some Haste spells stocked up, so she used one to get her to the Rouge in ten minutes rather than the hour it usually took.
She saw into Azula, but seeing as everything in the immediate area besides Azula herself was rather... on fire and Azula was showing signs of Beserk and/or Confusion, Rinoa gave her friend a wide berth for the moment and decided to look for Billy and Micaela, who had probably gotten dragged into this if her past experience had taught her anything about friends.
As several unfamiliar yet clearly hostile shapes approached her, Rinoa cast Sleep on them and kept wandering through the battlefield calling, "Billy? Micaela?"

"Rin--out of my way!" Dr. Horrible ordered, aiming the Death Ray at Rinoa as she wandered over to the fight.
Who WANDERED around a battlefield?

This shouldn't be happening. Why am I having to go through this again?!
Now she was going with her lost...lost love as she had before, forced to laugh and smile, despite the pain it brought on her now. Outwardly, the Fused Shadow Beast Midna flailed in fear and rage, bringing her foot down in the immediate vicinity of Rinoa, crushing a nearby building.

"Billy?" She heard Billy's voice and looked around, seeing a tall red-clad figure holding a menacing-looking gun pointed at her. She cast Stop on the figure and called out, "Billy! Is that you?!"
Before she could hear Billy's reply, her danger sense tingled and she ran back to avoid being crushed by a giant foot. This did not stop rather large pieces of building from falling on or around her, but she managed to come out of it only slightly battered and covered in dust.

"WAIT--" No, no, no--she sounded like Penny!
Unfortunately he couldn't pretend to shoot at her and get a mook instead, since she'd cast a spell that immediately paralyzed him. A MORE unfortunate reason was that he couldn't warn her about Midna now that he was frozen.
(On second thought, if she could freeze people he probably didn't have to help her.)

Azula was not happy. The phantom images kept coming from all sides, old foes, treacherous friends, Fire Nation guards, and worst of all, her Mother watching without a word from the sidelines. Her thoughts were an ever shrinking knot of fear and confusion, mirrored by the contracting circle of space she flipped and spun to keep open, precise bolts of blue flame darting out as she pushed her body to the limit to keep the ghosts back. The Avatar's monstrous shell towered over the scene, lit from within by the accursed Monk she had failed to kill, urging the ghosts on with great roars. Some vanished when struck. Others kept going until they vanished for no reason. And some screamed in babbling cries and stank of burning flesh after a hit.
These ones, incidently, were the only real targets she was hitting, Twili soldiers caught within range of the fallen princess' frenzy of attacks. The rest of the shots only contributed to the inferno she was creating or bounced off Midna's hide.
It didn't matter. Azula was in her private hell, alone, hopeless, and her masterful Bending prowess was giving a little of that hell to everyone else nearby.

A mook she hadn't noticed snuck up on her, and managed to get in a hit. She hurriedly cast another Sleep spell after recovering a bit.
"Billy! Where are you? Is Micaela here?"

Billy was currently attempting to say, "I'm right here!" and "No, she's at the apartment," but settled for trying desperately to move in Rinoa's direction.
It was then that he managed to hear a wolf's howls, which only confused him more--when did a WOLF get here?

Rinny gave up on Billy for the moment and thanked her stars she still had Phoenix Downs on her. As well as Remedies--and after remembering that, she made her way back to Azula, dodging the Fires that were being cast haphazardly in all directions.
"Azula! Are you all right? It's me, Rinoa! I can cure you!"
((It's totally okay if Azula mistakes her for Katara. What with the blue and talk of healing and all. xD))

Magic or not, Rinoa still wasn't paying attention to Giant-And-Scared-Out-Of-Her-Mind Midna!
He nearly fell over when the spell wore off. "Rinoa I'm right here watch out for the fifty-foot-tall woman and the wolf!"
The wolf actually sounded incredibly distressed--the Nightmare Fuel must have worked extra well due to his heightened sense of smell--but that didn't mean it wasn't dangerous.

"Billy--ahhh!" She attempted to dodge another fireball from the Berserked Azula, but ended up clawing off the remains of her right armwarmer as it caught fire to reveal very nasty second-degree burns. She calmed down enough to use a potion, which reduced it to first-degree, and then looked around for Billy.
She did a Scan, but saw no one, except for that man in the red coat on the other side of the ruined building (unscathed; the weapon could cause instant death), as well as the aforementioned fifty-foot tall woman (Confused). Azula was suffering from both Confusion and Berserk.
"Yeah, I see the giant woman!" Rinoa called. "And Azula is beserk over here, too--but Billy, I don't see you! Or... the wolf?"

"I'm right here," Billy sighed and removed his goggles and doctor's mask as he caught up to her. "I don't know where the wolf is, but he's howling pretty loudly."
