*Brandi pursed her lips, wondering if it would be too wierd to tell him what she knew. Or if it would set anything to unraveling. But at the same time, they'd been so short of info up to this point, it seemed stupid to withhold anything that might be useful.*
"The Tree of Life." *She confirmed. Shouldn't he know about that, being an angel and all? Hadn't he been around before Man?*
"It's...what you went to the Americas to find."

"I..."
And then it hit him, like a flood, the memories of at least that past life flooding him and almost completely overwhelming him. He knew of the tree, yes, from being an angel, and yet he hadn't made the connection between the one in the memory and the one he'd been told of.
The sudden rush of images and sounds was enough to stagger him, and he leaned against a nearby dresser, one hand over his eyes, trying to get get his mind to settle once again.

*Brandi started towards him on instinct, worried to see someone as stalwart as he on shaky legs. She caught him by the arm, immediately flooded with a current. It was electric and intoxicating. And she had to focus hard to keep herself in order, but she did, trying to steady him.*
"Are...you all right?" *She asked, both desperate to break the contact and unwilling to let go.*

He nodded slowly, straightening as he concentrated on Brandi's voice.
"It was a flood...all the memories of that life as the Spaniard just hit me, and it felt like the floor had just tilted."

"Oh! Of course." *Brandi managed to force her fingers open and release his arm. But she could still feel her fingers tingling. She glanced down to them for a moment before blinking back up to him.*
"Is it better now?" *She asked, obviously concerned.*
"Do you remember anything..." Not in the film? "...that might help?"

"I do feel better, though there's this strange buzzing in the background...I'm not sure what that is. But, I think...somehow, some way, the tree is why I'm immortal. God only knows how that works."

*Brandi's brow lowered in surprise.*
"You...weren't always immortal?" *She quickly added.* "No offense, I just thought...angel." *Her gesture suggested his obvious state of being.*
"Doesn't that normally come with the package?"

"That's what I've always thought. I've always been an angel!"
The moment he said it, however, a heretofore unknown bit of doubt crept in.
Hadn't he?
"I...think...there's something extremely important that I'm not remembering." He said, his voice distant.

*Brandi bit her lip, trying to do the math on something.*
"Do you...think it's something that you could find? If you knew what you were looking for?" *Past delving seemed a bit hazardous, but the potential that he hadn't always been an angel was complicated at best.*
"Maybe if we tried together?"

"I think so. And something in my gut is telling me that it's extremely important, and that it has to do with the tree...but the tree ties into...everything else, somehow."
It was getting way too convoluted for him, but if they could find some common thread aside from just Dracula's presence, they could also find a way to slow Dracula down and get him away once and for all, so that Brandi wouldn't be distracted from Cry Baby.

Brandi inhaled slowly, trying to figure out how best to go about this. She glanced to the bed and immediately decided that neither of them really needed the extra temptation in that department. Her gaze shifted to the floor in the middle of all the collected objects. That would do. And if she fell again, at least the ground would be closer. She made her way to the center of the circle, reaching her hand back to gesture him to her.*
"All right. Don't have to explain it to me. I'm willing to trust you."
*She sat cross legged, looking up to him.*
"Though I suppose this time you should do the driving."
*She could be a vessel, right? Sueauthors undoubtedly had tons of untapped energy. So why was she so anxious about this?
Oh...right.*

There was a bit of trepidation--what if he screwed this up?--but nonetheless, he sat across from her, trying to calm his mind and focus. He'd never really done anything like this before, as in the past his focus hadn't been directed at mental pursuits. As a result, while he knew how to start it, he was a bit out of practice.
"I'm not quite sure how to start..."
Well, may as well start somewhere--if one had another with them that could add their own power, hmm...he reached out and held her hands in his.
"A focus...on the past. The distant past...."
He closed his eyes, feeling a bit silly, but eventually he settled into a somewhat trancelike state. At first there seemed to be nothing happening, but then, it felt like they were both falling through some sort of tunnel...

*Brandi swallowed carefully. She was nervous that there would be a repeat performance, to be honest. But if she could remain detached...she closed her eyes, focusing on Cry-Baby, that night out back. Just the two of them, the grass and sky. They had been simplier times.
She fought to hold onto that as he took her hands. At first she thought she could manage it, but as they settled into it, something started to pull at her and she found it harder to keep her concentration. Her brow lowered in the effort, but eventually she could feel herself being tugged at, being pulled down into some dark oblivion.*

At first it was the bizarre darkness, but then gradually a blurry scene, like one seen through an out-of-focus lens, was starting to form.
It was the conquistador, making his way through...a dungeon?...and then, someone barring the way past, and it hit him, suddenly, that it was Dracula, or some incarnation of him, and then he was there--
For one brief moment there was a glimpse of the tree, and then the memories fell around in a jumbled mess: the gladiator, raising a sword to the crowd; Van Helsing, firing crowssbow bolts at vampires; Captain Bartlett in full regalia, giving a speech to his cew; and it was all spinning, strangely, and the tree resolved itself again--it had started with the Spaniard, yes, and he'd drunk from it and--
A sharp pain lanced through his head, and his grip on Brandi's hands tightened, but it was too much, a rush, and he had a feeling she was being hit, too, but with what he didn't know and--
He slumped over, toppling almost on top of Brandi but somehow missing her by just a bit.

*Brandi had not shared his vision, remaining disoriented in the inky blackness, but there was a sudden pain as she could feel his grip on her hands and then a searing pain in her head. It was cold, but it seemed to burn as well, spreading down and wrapping around her heart. She gasped, eyes wide as she fell with him, landing hard on her back and staring at the ceiling, though seeing nothing. She couldn't breathe. Trying desperately to pull air into her lungs, she could do little else, blinded and overwhelmed.*
