*Brandi looked surprised, her head tilting that her eyes locked with his. Curiosity suffused her features, as though she'd never considered the thought until now, even though he'd been helpful before. But this was different. This wasn't about Drac. This was about Cry-Baby. Here eyes lingered, guilt stinging a little at the thought of using him to that end, even if he was offering. But the other part of her was crying out for the potential. An angel should have a direct line to other planes, shouldn't he? She lifted her hands a bit, questioning.*
"Are you...sure? I mean...I...it's not all about Dracula." *She had to be honest, didn't she? Even so, her hands inched closer to him as she hung on his answer.*

He certainly knew what she meant--and as much as he might have felt enmity toward Cry Baby, at the same time, he hated seeing Brandi miserable and wanted to do as much as he could to help her find a way back to happiness. Even if it meant that happiness was with someone else.
"Yes. I'm sure."

*Her lips tightened a moment, hands paused. He knew and he still chose this. So why did she feel so guilty? Brandi swallowed, nodding to herself as she lifted her hands. She placed her fingertips carefully along his brow and cheekbones, far more calculating than the last time. Shutting her eyes, she took a deep breath as her body settled. They could do this. Together.*

Settling as best he could, he closed his eyes, not quite sure how to start out. After a moment, he simply let his mind drift, and his abilities, which usually hung in the background, started to quietly hum to the surface--almost like a static charge in the air, intangible but it's presence still felt.

*Something changed, the quiet air between them somehow different than the last time. There was something to the knowing; a level of expectation that had not existed when she'd lashed out on instinct. But now Brandi felt a cold washing over her, traveling up her fingertips and coursing through her. There was a smell, somehow familiar and masculine and she could almost hear the rustling of feathers. She sighed softly before inhaling slowly, trying to take that energy into herself. Everything else fell away, her tired body renewed and focused.
But she wanted more. Needed it to pass further and so her hands pressed more firmly to his skin, cradling his face in her hands. In the distance she could hear water as it lapped rhythmically against wood and her face twitched at the faint cry of gulls.*
"I..." *She breathed faintly.* "You..." *She sucked her lip briefly.* "You're here." *The hint of a smile curled the corner of her mouth.*
((Quick question in PM.))

His twitched...did he smell...the ocean? And there, the sound of waves, so clear that he was almost disappointed he didn't feel sand under his feet. The flap of cloth in the sea wind, and then her voice...her...
"A hurricane couldn't keep me away," he said, in an accent that was a bit different than his usual one.

*Brandi's voice was a bit off as well, a touch of French lost somewhere beneath it.*
"I...I thought I would never see you again. That you were lost."
*Tears welled, though her eyes remained shut. She leaned closer, savoring the smell of the salt on his skin as she cupped his head in her hands. Her voice lowered to a whisper.*
"You know they'll never let us be together."

"The depths will never claim me, you can be sure of that."
His voice softened, and one hand reached up to cup the side of her face.
"I know. I'd run off somewhere with you if I didn't know that they'd never let us rest."

*She nuzzled his hand gratefully for a moment before her brow furrowed.*
"When they find me...I have no destiny but the gallows." *She confessed sadly. Her hands slid back into his hair and her forehead touched his.*
"Please...I cannot bear the thought of you sharing that fate. Go. Go now and leave me!"

(( ;D ))
"I can't just abandon you to it," he protested, sliding his arms around her.
"I'd do anything to help you escape it."

*She pressed her face against his neck, savoring the familiar contact. She sighed softly, sadness in her words.*
"But what else is there to do?" *She asked hopelessly.*
"Even now, the rest of the fleet is closing in. Surely we will glimpse their colors any day now."
*Her hands, slid down to clutch at his shirt as she buried her face against him.*
"I...I'm so afraid." *She confessed in a whisper.*

He'd meant what he'd said--he would go so far as to face off against men that he'd commanded, if it came to that. He tightened the embrace, kissing the top of her head, trying his best to give her some kind of comfort, though he knew that there wasn't much to be had...the reality was on it's way, born closer to them by sails.
"If I hadn't lost my command..." He murmured, but that was a fruitless thing to think of.
"I'm staying right here."

*The tears fell silently over her cheeks as she pressed harder against him before her head tilted up to his face.*
"At least...we should have tonight." *She breathed hesitantly. When things were infinitely bleak, she would take any light to be had. She pressed her lips to his, needing the comfort only he could offer.*

"At least," he answered gruffly, answering her kiss with one of his own, the embrace shifting character to one of passion rather than comfort.
Perhaps, just for the night, they could forget what lay ahead.

*That was better. Safe and familiar, his caress was all she longed for in this moment. Yanking her shirt abruptly over her head, she discarded it and eagerly returned her hot kiss to his lips, even as she was trying to tug his coat off without breaking the contact.*
