*Dracula's brow rose. He was not so insulted as amused by the fluster the other was worked up in.*
"I assure you, Gabriel, my lineage is not in question."
*He looked the angel over for a moment, practically able to see the blood pumping through him. But then his gaze shifted to the stair casually.*
"She's upstairs then?" *He queried idly. After all, he'd seen most of downstairs before the interruption.*

Raziel sighed. He needed to stop forgetting that people from certain time periods didn't take being called a bastard the same way that modern folks did.
He crossed his arms at Dracula's question, his face blank.
"Maybe, maybe not."

*A smile twisted the corner of his mouth up and he spun towards the stairs with a supernatural grace.*
"I should check then." *He assured the other.* "I would hate to miss her if she is here."
*He was on the stair almost instantly, ascending it deftly.*

He moved then, so swiftly from where he'd been standing that to the mortal eye it would have seemed like he'd disappeared from the foyer and reappeared on the stairs behind the vampire, grabbing him by the sleeve.
"She is currently occupied and can't be disturbed." He ground out.

*Every muscle went taut and Dracula's gaze dropped slowly to where the angel held him.*
"Gabriel, remove yourself." *He drew out darkly.* "Or else I might change my mind about intending no harm here."

"All right then."
He let go, but immediately moved around him so that he was standing in Dracula's way.
"Now, as I said, the lady is busy."

*Once the offending hand was removed and the threat issued, Dracula's smirk returned. His eyes held the other's without emotion, but full of confidence.*
"What of importance could she be occupied with if you are down here, Gabriel?"
*He shifted to the side, as if to continue up around the man.*

He placed one hand against the wall, his arm now in the way.
"I'm not sure what exactly it entails, but what she's up to at the moment could be dangerous if you break her concentration."

What could she be concentrating on?
*There was an instant shift in Dracula's expression (though it would have been too subtle for a human to notice). Before, he had merely been scoping the situation out and making things harder for his adversary. This was normal and par for the course, nothing he had express focus on. But if the girl was doing something that required focus, she might be more powerful on her own than initially expected. Either way, Dracula wasn't about to be herded out now. His gaze shifting from the top of the stairs to Gabriel, his tone indicated that this was business.*
"Then I shall be so silent she won't notice me." *He lifted his hand, a small gesture, but one that warned of potential violence, should the angel not let him be.*

Stony-faced, but with a hint of a smile, Raziel replied.
"Well, if you aren't up to anything, then you wouldn't mind if I went along with you."

*Dracula rolled his eyes faintly beneath their lids, but things could be far more tedious. Right now he just wanted to know what the girl was doing that had the angel so protective. Not that that had to be much, but it might be.*
"Of course not." *He answered smoothly and started forward, fully expecting Gabriel to move.*

And move he did, keeping pace with the vampire lord's steps. It was actually a bit eerie, in that their footfalls were synchronized--not that the archangel was doing it on purpose. It was one of those things about his nature that seemed almost automatic.

*Eerie or no, Dracula seemed as oblivious to it as the angel, instinctively ascending the stairs and making his way down the hall. It was easy to find her, perhaps it was the smell of her. He didn't dwell on it as he opened the door without circumstance. He paused in the doorway though, if only for a moment.*

*Brandi was relatively motionless amidst the seemingly random objects. Her eyes were shut and her breathing very slow and deep. There was a tiny furrow creasing her brow as she tried to press further, but all in all, the sight was rather unimpressive.*

Raziel was both relieved to see she was all right and triumphant that he'd been right--nothing crazy or elaborate was happening, it simply her there, eyes closed in concentration, her mind in some far off place. He had no idea what Dracula was expecting to find, though it was probably not this.
