"Well, then, if you insist--I'll steal away with all of you!"

*She smirked for just a moment before snarling, eyes going pale as they tended to do when in 'attack mode' (though she wouldn't have attacked Ned anyway), and fangs out.*
"RAWR!" *She cried, before jumping down.*
"I vant to suck hyour bluuuuuhd!"

Ned yelped and retreated a few steps, surprised.

*If she'd had the capability, she would have blushed.*
"Sorry. I've been around vampires--I forget it freaks people out." *Her eyes went back to normal and she clamped her mouth shut, looking guilty with her hands behind her back.*

"No, it's o-okay. You just took me surprise. That's all," he laughed uneasily, unable to prevent himself from replaying the scene over and over again in his mind.

"The eyes didn't used to do that. I keep forgetting." *Vampires, contrary to popular belief, did indeed develop and change--as they got older, they got stronger, and cultivated new talents and abilities they hadn't had as fledglings.*

Ned set his lips in a thin, crooked line.
"What do you mean?" he asked, angling his head to one side. "The whole eye thing didn't happen right after you became a vampire?"

"As time goes on, things change. When I was first turned I was just a strong, pale chick with fangs. Now every year I get less and less human." *She said this uncomfortably; it was clearly a topic she didn't like to discuss. It wasn't a process she could help.* "It's why we all become such recluses in the end--it becomes more and more obvious that we're something else.*

"Something else," Ned echoed, dropping his gaze to his hands. "Yeah."

"Oh, look!" *She said, grasping for something else to discuss.* ".... curtains! They're... red! And dusty oh God when was the last time I cleaned this room"

He laughed slightly and directed his gaze to said curtains, which were of a terribly scarlet hue, reminded him of blood, but weren't at all dusty. Still, anything to get his mind off of other things...
"What say you and I clean up after the place?" he winked.

*She bit her lower lip for just a fraction of a second then turned to Ned.* "Don't look, unless you want to see me climb up a wall and do things I shouldn't physically be able to."

"I suppose I don't mind that as much as your whole eye...thing..."
Ned's gaze fell to the girl's eyes, the lashes of which brushed up against her cheeks in a way that sorely tested his self-restraint. He would have liked to kiss her, sweep her off her feet...but he couldn't. The man sighed to himself, hoping that Cal, despite her auditory capabilities, wouldn't catch the muted tones of the soft release of air.

*With that she deftly began using the wrought-iron railings of the spiral staircase to propel her up to where the two-story curtains hung from. She hung from the rail with one hand, using the other to whack at the curtains beneath her and shake the (almost nonexistent) dust down. The process repeated for each curtain, at which point she jumped down, landing lightly on the stone floor.*

"Well...you didn't really need my help there," Ned chuckled, restraining himself from gaping openly at Cal. "Job's done."
