*Cal skipped through the halls and hummed, happier than she had been in months as she moved around the castle, cleaning.*

Ned stood outside the castle's entrance, alternately staring at the card he gripped in his hands and gaping at the immense size and grandeur of the castle before him. Wondering whether he might have gotten the wrong place, his fingers enclosed upon a rather heavy brass knocker, and he tapped it lightly against the door.

*Cal opened the door a moment later, having zoomed to the door with vampire speed. She threw it open excitedly, grinning.*
"Hi!"

Taken aback by her speedy answer, Ned nearly tripped over his feet into the castle.
"Good evening!" he managed to gasp.

"This is the Castle von Krolock, by the way. The Graf is my adoptive father and/or employer thing."

"It's...massive," he commented with a nod. "Oh--so, is the Graf the one who turned you into a vampire, then?"

"No, er... my sire is not someone who's entirely pleasant. The Graf took me in before I was a vampire, 8 years ago." *She said, leading him into the torch-lit great hall.*

It was a quaint place. A bit eerie, perhaps, but certainly quaint.
"If you don't mind my asking, how old would you be now?"

"Twenty-six last month."

"Happy belated birthday! I could make you a pie for when you stop by the Pie Hole in the future." Ned was surprisingly relieved by the fact that Cal was not much younger than him as he had felt a considerable age gap would have created a bit of awkward tension between the two. But that was just him. "Did you do anything special?"

*The danger with vampires was usually that they were centuries older than prospective partners, but as Cal was so young she had more options. In theory. She still looked 18. She laughed.*
"Most vampires stop counting them, but I'm comparatively very young. The Graf is, like, 400."
*She winked.*
"But I will stop by."

That wink momentarily stunned Ned into stupefied silence, and it took some seconds before he regained the use of his voice. "Of c-course. Come by whenever." He felt like bashing himself over the head--was that all he could say?

"The Graf is out and Herbert doesn't live here anymore, so we have a giant castle to ourselves!" *She said brightly.* "Oh, and if you're tired say something; I'm used to being nocturnal so right now is like 8 in the morning to me." *She babbled happily, not caring what she said.*

"I'm not tired at all," he stated, stifling a yawn. Ned listened enthusiastically to what Cal had to say, nodding every now and then in agreement or giving a slight shake of his head to express his remorse. Sporadically, he would throw a furtive glance at her face, examining the slight pout of her lips or the arch of a brow.
He hoped she didn't notice, her being endowed with super vampire powers and all. She was bound to catch on, though.

*As it happened, Cal was so used to male attention (of the variety that was immediately recognizable) that she did not notice Ned's subtle, furtive observations. Despite being a mild empath, she didn't pick up a thing out of the ordinary (in part because it was a new talent that was still too weak to really use effectively, and would be until she was about a century old).*
*She paused during a speech on 400-year-old velvet curtains.*
"You actually came."
