Heartlock looked over at Christian, blushing.
"Well, we should perhaps start making those clothes you wanted. But first I need to take your measurements."

"All right, then," he barely whispered. With that, Christian stood rooted to the spot with arms outspread, waiting for Heartlock.

Heartlock blushed and admired his body. He was so handsome. She sighed and found something to take his measurements with. She accidentally touched his skin while she placed the rope she used for measurements on his torso, to calculate the size of his shirt.

Christian stiffened at her touch, his cheeks flushed from his embarrassment.

Heartlock smiled when she noticed how tall and strong he was.
"I have never made so big clothes as I will have to make for you before. You have stronger muscles than Elven men."

"Yes--I mean, no! I mean, thank you. Yes," he stuttered. "Thank you."
Christian unconsciously flexed his arms in his obvious mortification.

Heartlock smiled and a twinkle of humor appeared in her eyes. If he reacted like that when she admired his arm muscles, she wondered how he was going to react when she started taking measurements for his pants....
"You're welcome."

****AFTER THE RAINSTORM****
The sun was shining through the windows and the storm was finally over. Heartlock helped Christian pack the things he should take with him back to the human world. During the rainstorm she had understood that he would never be happy with the elves.
So she allowed him to leave, without anything had happened between them. Now she gave him the backpack and offered him her hand in a last greeting. She smiled gently.
"Fare well, my friend. I hope you will be happy in the human world hereafter. If you ever get lost in the forest again, just call out to the elves for help, and we will find you."

"Of course, Heartlock. Thank you for your hospitality." Christian warmly embraced her before shouldering his bags with a sigh and descending from the treehouse.

Heartlock smiled as she watched him leave. He would never have been happy here. He didn't belong in the Elven world. As soon as he had left the house, she closed the house and went back to her own tree house. First now she remembered that she had never told him where she lived. She knew then that the two of them would never meet again.
