((To be followed by The Coronation, I suppose. Then to be followed by The Wedding/Coronation Ball. To be followed by sex and angst.))
*Rebecca tugged nervously at her sleeve as a lady-in-waiting settled her veil and tiara against her upswept dark curls. She turned slightly, inspecting herself in a full-length mirror.*
...yes, I've gained weight, *she thought miserably, a frown appearing on her brow.*

((Yes, yes, yes yes and yes.))
*In another room, Rudolf a bit nervously paced back and forth. He'd been married once before, as a prince, but this was...something else. The amount of turn-out that had erupted at the news of the Emperor's marriage had overwhelmed even him. The number of people out there were rather nerve-wracking.
But he was also happy, to finally have this...to have her, and her children. They were what mattered most*

*Becca forced herself to relax, taking a number of deep breaths. She still felt as if she would vomit, but she managed to compose her expression and sit quietly while she waited for the signal that the ceremony was ready to begin.
At last, it came, and she took her bouquet, another breath, and pulled the front part of her veil forward to fall across her face before she moved to wait at the back of the church--a mighty cathedral, actually--as the rich-sounding organ began to play.*

*Rudolf, standing at the far end, had to fight the urge to fidget.*
For god's sake, man, you'd think you'd never been to a wedding. Calm down! he chided himself.
A good amount of the who's who of Austria and Hungary's nobles were here, some people Rudolf hadn't seen since he was a child. When the organ music started, all other considerations fled as he saw Rebecca appear. She was stunning, and judging from the murmur from the assembly, he wasn't the only one who thought so*

*Becca vaguely heard the organ somewhere above the pounding of her heart throbbing loudly in her ears as she blocked out the people around her--whether she meant to or not, she couldn't tell, but she was grateful it happened--her gaze locking with Rudolf's as he stood waiting by the altar. He was the only person worth seeing, and so it was only him she saw. A small, peaceful smile appeared on her face and she moved with more ease, then, down the aisle and towards him, her grip on her father's arm relaxing as Sir Percy gave her away to Rudolf in the traditional gesture--though everyone knew she was already his, just as he was already hers.
Their joined hands warmed as their fingers slid together, their eyes still fastened on each other as the priest began to intone.*

**Fast-forward through vows, 'cuz I don't remember squat about those, except--**
"...by the power invested in me, I know pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."
*Applause erupted all around as Rudolf lifted the veil and kissed Rebecca. Standing there beside her at the altar, staring into her eyes...the happiest moment of his life*

*Becca beamed at Rudolf. This all felt so right. So amazing. So unlike anything she could ever have imagined. She took his arm and squeezed it slightly.*
"Ready for the rest of our lives?" *she asked teasingly in a low voice as they made their way from the church, white rose petals drifting above and around them in a cloud of softness and scent.*

((I can see this in my head, and it's absolutely gorgeous <3))
*He was all smiles*
"Absolutely."

((*releases doves* OMG THEIR LUV IS SO TRU AN' 4 EVAAAAA.))
*Rebecca was smiling widely as they left the church, getting into a carriage which would take them back to the palace. There would be a modest (though by imperial standards that didn't say much) and intimate wedding luncheon for the families, and a chance for a change of dress, and then that same cathedral would be the place of the coronation later that afternoon, after which there would be a grand ball in celebration of it all, and Lord only knew how long that would go on.
Rebecca's jitters had somehow only intensified, even though she felt thrilled beyond belief at that very moment, she couldn't help feeling a bit exhausted just THINKING about all that lay ahead of them, even just in that single day.
She leaned against Rudolf's shoulder lightly, closing her eyes with a sigh, taking a moment to gather her thoughts and try to put them in some kind of order.*

((Lawls!))
*His head was still spinning, and he doubted it was going to slow down any time soon--for, following the luncheon (in which Rebecca would finally get to meet what family he had remaining), she would be crowned. He never though he would become Emperor--he'd always felt, somehow, that his father would be indefinitely. And even then, he wouldn't have dreamed he would have an Empress.
One that he truly loved, with all his heart.
He sat easily with her now, mind whirling with thoughts but content to sit quietly for a few moments.*

*Becca toyed with the food on her plate. It was beautiful and certainly ought to be delicious, but she was too nervous to eat a bite. She had been rolling a grape this way and that for some time before she realized how embarrassing for Rudolf it must be to have his Empress fidgeting so openly. She laid down her fork with a slight clatter against the fine china and cleared her throat lightly, before Rudolf caught her gaze and she grinned, helplessly, giggling a little.*
"I feel so silly here."

*He grinned back at her*
"You're not the only one," he said, the words low enough that only she heard him.

"Yes, well you get to look quite dashing and clean-cut, whereas I'm in enough layers of lace and pearls to keep any number of nuns and oysters occupied for the next two hundred years, trying to fill the gap this dress must have made in the supply."

*Treszka, through her own slyness, had managed to sneak her way in. The getting in part had been easy, of course--teleporting--but it had taken forever to find a dress that would both look good on her and match the occasion she was crashing.
She was sitting at one side of the table, eyeing Rudolf and Rebecca and trying (subtly) to get Rudolf's attention, but so far failing. Not that she'd give up. She wanted to meet Rebecca at some point...*

"You look beautiful," was the response, though he was trying not to grin too much at her comment about the oysters.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of somebody familiar--and when he turned his full attention in that direction, realized that he did know who it was.
"Becca," he whispered. "Over there, between the cardinal and the duke--that young lady? That's my sister Treszka."
