*Lark hurried to help.*
"Suppose they ain't all bad, you know?" *She offered with a gentle shrug. Jake seemed too perfect for complaints.*

"Yeah, 'ya say that now..." *Lizzie shook her head, starting to wash the dishes off.*
"But 'ya turn yer back a moment and their gettin' in all sorts of trouble an'..."
*She shook her head once more.*

"That, I can attest to."
At least for her own part.

*Lark tightened her lips, determined to defend her man.*
"But surely not all of them..."

"All of them." *Lizzie rebuked quickly.*
"Hell, even Jake got..." *The words died as the color fled from her face. She tried to recover quickly, shoving a wet plate to Alex.*
"He used to roughhouse as a whelp." *Lizzie continued coolly, as if it was nothing.*
"Least he grew out of it early." *She smiled supportively to Lark.*

Alex took the plate quickly, wondering at the look on Lizzie's face. She'd stepped into something here she didn't have the full story of, so it was prudent to keep her mouth shut.
"He's not the type I'd be worried about," she said anyway.
((We can end this anytime, I know it's just us. I'm just trying to figure where Alex and Lizzie are.))

*Lark just nodded and took the dried plate to stack it carefully. Wasn't like they knew everything about her anyways...*
((Lizzie still needs to talk to Jake about them moving in together, but she's going to do that after everyone leaves. Did you want to just cut forward to that?))

((Nope, sounds good.))
*Lizzie watched the two girls head out into the evening air. Sighing in contentment, she followed the pipe smoke back to Jake.*
"She's a right pretty thing, Jake. 'Ya done good."

"Better than y'all 'spected, I'm thinkin'," *teased Jake.* "Fer a no-good cuss with a face like mine." *He grinned.*

"Yeah well...even a cuss can get lucky, I s'ppose."
*Lizzie smiled, but she started to get anxious, unsure of how to broach the subject.*
"Jake...I was thinkin'...with 'ya and Lark...well...thing's gonna be tight 'bout here..."

"Ah figure we'll make do," *said Jake with a shrug.* "Won't take up another bedroom, anyway..." *he said with a grin.*

*Lizzie laughed a bit nervously.*
"Well, Jake...it's just that...Alex...andra. She's gettin' a place and we were thinkin'...I mean, it ain't like I wouldn't be around all the time anyways, but..."
*She was babbling quite profusely.*

*Lizzie rolled her eyes.*
"Come'on, Jake. It's almost 1900. Things is changing."
*Her gaze softened, imploring.*
"Please Jake. It ain't like it's anything scandalous. Girls live together in boardin' houses all the time."
*She hated to lie, but Alex was worth it.*
