*Julian watched the interplay with a strange fascination. He noted that it provoked no jealousy. That was strange. But there was part of him too that was quite taken with Mortimer. So he could understand, in the very least.*

The fish was quickly joined by a couple of apples and a particularly dark bit of chocolate that made the youth trill quietly as he ate. Heedless of his mess, he latched onto Erik again and nuzzled against him, speaking to Julian.
"Saw Pretty care make singing with many voices. Very good good...will sings lots now?"

*Julian nodded.*
"I am. I am Mephistopheles in the new production of Faust." *He answered.*

Erik put his arm around Mortimer, barely disturbed by the creature's new skin. He felt good, powerful, prideful of his two companions.
"He will sing," Erik confirmed happily. "He will be Erik's face in the world."

The man-creature gave a too-human clicking purr and tilted his head up at the Opera Ghost.
"Why not Care care sing?"

Erik grimaced momentarily before answering.
"Do you remember, Mortimer, when you first saw Erik's face? You compared me to a skull and you said 'dead face.' Most people do not appreciate having such things before their eyes."

He blinked, uncomprehending.
"All have dead face, though. In time..."

"Humans do not understand..." *Julian scowled, vexed at the species in general.* "They do not find it...aesthetic. More their loss."

Erik chuckled derisively at Mortimer's comment.
"They dislike the reminder," he said. "Humans are not enamored of death."
Frankly, he did not find it aesthetic, either.

"Oh. But...Erik has fakeface to wear...can sing with that, yes? Erik sings better better all voices." he grinned and unlatched himself from the tall man, hopping over to Julian to have his affection as well.

Erik liked the flattery, but had to disabuse Mortimer of certain notions, painful as it was.
"Thank you, Mortimer," he said if it was no more than his due, "but I'm afraid humans are rather choosy about that, as well. Perhaps, given the right situation, a mask might be permitted--but in general society, one does not cover one's face. It is seen as though you have something to hide--and mankind does not like a mystery."

*Julian received him happily, scratching the new skin gently, unsure of its sensitivity. How could he explain something he saw no logic in in the first place.*
"Humans value their eyes above their ears." *He answered with disdain."

"Oh." He trilled and nuzzled up against Julian, turning to Erik again and leaving the subject behind.
"Now Shark can see people much much, outside, new things."

"Of course," Erik said a little sadly. "I only wish Erik could go with you."

*Julian lifted his eyes to Erik in sympathy. He knew what he was, to be that which Erik could not. It pained him.*
