*Figwit gazed after her in disbelief, as Kirk shrugged and threw himself down after her. Sighing, Figwit followed, with a more measured leap that kept him upright and on top of the snow.*

*Wild stood up from the ground, still howling with laughter after the funny downhill race. She had snow in her beautiful dark curls, and was busy removing snow from her clothes and from inside her clothes before the men arrived.*

*Figwit got there first, racing up to her.*
"Should you be standing?"

*Wild looked at the cold snow, then she grinned embarrassed and looked at him.*
"No, but I don't want to sit in the cold snow. I already started freezing from the snow I got on the inside of my clothes - and before you get ideas, I've already removed it - the snow, that is."
*She tried to stand on her wounded foot. Until now she had avoided to stand on it. An enormous pain streamed through her body, and her face turned white.*
"You're right." *She tried to joke in spite of the pain.* "I shouldn't be standing."

*Figwit caught her up in his arms as Kirk struggled not to leer.*
"You're not making things any easier," *he said sternly.* "Come on; we should find someplace to eat."

*Wild wrapped her arms around Figwit as she looked around them. They were in a valley, that right now was filled with snow, but further down, the snow was gone, and there were green spots of grass. Tiny rabbits were jumping around in the grass, and the sight made Wild smile mildly. She didn't know that it softened her face expression and made her even more beautiful.*
"How about the meadows below us?"
*She asked mildly, still deeply touched by the sight of the beautiful animals.*

*Kirk smiled to himself. She was a woman after all. She liked bunnies. The incongruity of bunnies in an "evil" forest amused him, too. He led the way to the clearing, letting Figwit carry her for now while he carried their scant provisions.*
"So what's next?" *he asked.* "If we have the Edelweiss."

*Wild had memorized her list now, so her answer came quickly.*
"A Field Poppy. Preferably red."
*She leaned her head against Figwit's shoulder and rested for a while. Her ankle still hurt, even though the snow had cooled down the damage somehow. And they had been traveling all night. She silently hoped it wouldn't take long until they found somewhere safe to eat and try to get some sleep.*

"Regardless, we must rest," *Figwit said, setting her down in the shade of a large tree. The sun was casting long shadows.*

*Kirk knelt beside Wild.*
"Let me help you," *he said.* "I know a little something about first aid; I can take the swelling down."
*He held a handful of snow.*

*Wild looked up at him, like a doe in front of a hunter with a machine gun. Then she forced herself to calm down, and just nodded. She was too tired to argue with him.*
Why am I so tired? I have never been like this before... I feel.... drained....

*Kirk nodded, and held the snow against her ankle as Figwit stood guard. When it melted, he ripped a piece of cloth from his tunic and wrapped it, fairly tight.*
"I know it's tight, but the pressure should help," *he said.* "Ideally, we should be icing and elevating. But we'll do the best we can. The sooner this heals the better."

*Wild looked up at him and tried to smile, but she felt so weak.... as if something or someone tried to drain.... her magic powers? Wild suddenly forced herself awake and sat up. She stared suspicious at the rabbits. She lifted her arm with her palm directly against the closest rabbit. A flame went from her hand and sat the rabbit on fire. It screamed and ran away, as it transformed into a big, black ugly creature with red, glowing eyes.
Suddenly all the rabbits were gone, and the expedition found themselves surrounded by 8 black creatures with red, glowing eyes, just like the one Wild had chased away. They were hissing as they started their attack, aiming at Wild, who they obviously considered the biggest threat.
Wild replied by throwing a fireball into the biggest group, causing three of the creatures to fall.*

*Automatically, Figwit whirled into battle with Excalibur, his slender form almost a blur to Kirk's human eyes. Figwit trusted Wild not to hit him. Kirk, for his part, drew a dagger and crouched defensively next to Wild.*

*Wild formed another fireball in her hands and looked at the men with a sarcastic smile.*
"Just go ahead and play, boys. I can take care of myself."
