"But you're not alone," *Figwit pointed out, slicing cleanly through one of the figures.* "So you'll have to put up with us."

*She studied him for a moment, with her dark, glittering eyes. Then she chuckled with laughter.*
"Oh, I am putting up with you. More than you know...."
*She stopped herself from talking and threw the fireball toward one of the attacking creatures. The creature landed dead in front of her. She shuddered and pulled away from it as quick as she possibly could.*

*Figwit, neatly decapitating the last attacker, turned to gaze at Wild blankly for a moment. He decided he would never understand her. At all.*

*Wild felt that she needed to explain her reply for him. She pointed at the top of the cliff where they just had been. A huge rock was laying there. It was loose, and could fall down at them any moment. But it didn't.*
"If I hadn't put up with you, I wouldn't have used my willpower to keep that rock in place the entire time we have been here."

*Both men looked up at the rock.*
"Oh," *Figwit said.*
"Thank you," *Kirk said.*
"We'll need to move, then," *Figwit sighed.* "We all need to rest; and you can't rest if you're... holding a rock up."

*Wild grinned broadly as she noticed their reactions. Then she bent down and picked up something red who had been kicked up from the snow during the fight. It was a red flower. She put it inside her leather pouch together with the Edelweiss.* "We have reached our second goal: A Field Poppy. But if we're going to be attacked every time we find a flower, this will be a very long journey. And we can't get very far without rest. Now, where should we set up camp?"

*Figwit pointed up into the tree.*
"If we climb up, and you let the rock fall, we'll be safe. And can climb down after to set up camp."

*Wild nodded cheerfully.*
"Sure, I'll let the rock fall as soon as you two are up in the tree. I can't climb before my ankle gets better."

*Kirk smiled.*
"Now, now. You think I'll leave you down here. Come on; you can't walk, either, so I'm not leaving you in the path of the rock."
*Figwit was already scaling the tree.*

*Wild sighed, but it was humor in her voice as she replied.*
"I just gave you a perfect opportunity to get rid of me. But OK, you'll regret it later...."
*She allowed him to lift her up.*
"Figwit, do you think the tree will carry us all?"

*Kirk shifted her slight weight as Figwit looked down at them.*
"Yes," *he said, bouncing lightly on a branch.* "It should."
*Kirk climbed up, impeded by the awkwardness of having someone on his back. He settle on a branch lower than Figwit's, but out of harm's way.*

*Wild lifted her arm, with her palm directed against the rock. She whispered something in Elvish. It sounded like a command. The rock fell to the ground with a loud thumping sound, and started rolling. Wild used all her willpower and managed to stop the rock before it hit the tree. Afterward she was mentally exhausted, but didn't want to bother the men by complaining.*

*Kirk felt Wild slump against her after the rock fell, and worried that she would be unable to hold on for long.*
"Hold on," *he said quietly, and attempted to climb down one-handed while the other sought to stabilize her. Figwit beat him to the ground and took Wild from him.*
"We'll camp here," *Figwit said, and Kirk nodded. He reached into the small pack Figwit carried and drew out lembas and a gossamer-thin but warm blanket for each of them.*

*Wild gathered her last strength and made a fireplace for them, the fire on it already burning. Afterward, she just leaned against the nearest rock, too tired to help out with anything. She managed to finish her meal just in time before she fell asleep. She didn't even have time to wrap herself into her blanket.*

*Kirk watched Wild for a few minutes, waiting for her to fall asleep before he reached over and pulled the blanket around her. He was careful not to touch her.*
"She's a firecracker," *he murmured to Figwit.* "No two ways about it."
*The two men wrapped themselves in their respective blankets, though Figwit sat up to keep watch. He had been trained for this, and needed little rest.*
