*Genghis stood on the top of the hill, looking down on the city of Paris as it stretched before him. So many softened by decadence. They knew not the smell of the body of one’s enemy, the heat of battle. He fought to remind himself that these sorts of campaigns that where so far from home required a great deal more reconnaissance. One must know his enemy, better than his ally, as well as himself. He let out a great sigh. Very well. He could wait.*
There must be someway to entertain oneself in the meantime.
*He walked back inside his tent and set himself down on a lavish rug. Dining casually on some dates, he sat in silence, pondering the next best course of attack.*

((This is the only person I would feel even vaugley safe with sending near Khan.))
*On the street below the hill, the Bride looked up from her walk. What was that...a tent? It didn't really matter, she supposed.*

*Mitra stood, waiting in the vestibule, as her father entered the tent.*
"My brother feels things deeply, and never learned to hide it."

*Genghis looked to her coolly.*
"I cannot force him to accept me. If it is not of interest to him, I will move on. He is not my only son."

"But he is your son," *she said simply, pouring herself a glass of wine and kneeling comfortably on an embroidered cushion.*

*Genghis took one of his own, but remained standing.*
"He does not see it that way. And yet, he would take my name. I do not claim to understand him."

"There was no other name to take. If my brother wished to prosper as a businessman, he could not endure the informality of half-name."
*She sighed.*
"Nadir...will never be fully understood."

*Genghis drank his wine and watched her speak.*
"I regret the complications that he has had to bear due to his heritage."
*He set the empty glass on the table.*
"But a man can not blame his father for all of his misfortune. Eventually he will have to learn to stand on his own feet. Especially if he turns his back on where he comes from."

"He lost all he ever knew through no fault of his own, after being raised, taught to hate everything that you are. He has nothing of his history, his own people. I was his only remaining tie with his homeland...and as you can see, I have left that behind."

Your heart is soft for him. If only you were a man, you would understand.
*Genghis shook his head slightly.*
"I would offer him more, a stake in my holdings, my possessions. But his rage blinds him. There is nothing that I can offer to appease him."

"If you think he wants money, you're mistaken. He has all the wealth he desires."
*She stood to look him in the eye.*
"Myself, on the other hand..."
*She cocked her head to one side.*
"I might be so appeased."

"You misunderstand my offer. I want my son at my side, as a member of my house."
*Genghis looked her over shrewdly.*
"But what is it that you would offer in return for this...appeasment?"

"Your son is weak--though it pains me to speak ill of one I love so well, I am not blind to his faults, nor mine, nor yours."
*She planted her feet and elevated her chin.*
"If you could but view me to all intents and purposes as your son, I will show you what I may offer. I have ambitions the likes of which my brother will never dream of."
