*Genghis jogged after her, not about to let her wander off alone if she was ill.*
"Care for some company?"

*Genghis slowed, frowning.*

"I'm not ill, Genghis. Anyway, I'm going to see a doctor, so don't worry about me."

*His frown did not lessen, but he knew that once she set her mind to something, there was no arguing. He stopped, but grasped her hand.*
"Please..." *he found himself lost for words*
"Just take care. I await your return."

*She stopped and looked at him, but found she couldn't say it.*
I have to leave you. Again. Forever, this time.
"...I have to go," *she said softly.*

*Genghis looks wounded for a moment, but his face set in resolve and he nodded, releasing her hand.*
"Of course. Safe journey."
*He met her eyes gently.*

*Emily felt her eyes filling with tears but couldn't tear her gaze away from his.*
"I love you," *she whispered.*
OH MY GOD SHUT UP WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?
*Turning pale, she backed up a step, then began to run away.*

((*blinks* zomg.))
*He took a step towards her instinctively, arm raised, but he forced himself to stay. Only then did her words sink in. He paused a moment, not understanding, then fell to one knee.*
"I..."
How can you? I...I don't understand.

***MUCH LATER***
*The lieutenant stood at the mouth of the tent, entering when bidden. Genghis looked terrible, his face sunken slightly in undernourishment, his eyes wild and ringed from lack of sleep. He paced the tent, papers and charts spread everywhere.*
"Report." *He snarled.*
"Sir...all evidence....it still shows she...." *The man answered nervously.*
"No!" *Genghis snapped.* "You're just not trying hard enough. Bring on extra men. Find the man that did this to her. Find him now!"
*Turning his back to the officer, Genghis started to pace again. The man took that to be the end of the conversation and ducked back out gratefully.*
