*Virginia returned to her room at Madame Dahlia's and found a lovely pale pink dress laid out on her bed, along with all manner of frilled undergarments that brought a puzzled look to her face.
However, trusting Sylvia's judgement in what was fashionable in this case, she dressed carefully in any case, and pinned her hair back into a neat chignon. She sat at the dressing table and glanced into the mirror and frowned at how severe it made her look.*
Sylvia's is different...looser...not trying quite so hard.
*She pulled some curls from the bun and arranged them carefully to tumble lightly over her brow and along the back of her neck before turning to face the pots of cream and rouge and God only knew what else. She was utterly perplexed and dared not touch them for all of five full minutes before she picked up the smallest bottle and uncorked it, finding it full of a scent like apple blossoms. It was pleasant, but quite strong, making her head spin a little. She coughed and set it down heavily, and it fell onto its side, spilling onto the heavy folds of her skirt.*
"Oh dear!"
*It dried quickly, and thankfully left no stain, but now the room and Virginia smelt quite strongly of perfume. She hastened to open a window, which only just made it bearable, before returning to the dressing table and frowning at the make up.
With a sigh, she took up the rouge and kohl and set to work, trying to stop her hands from shaking.*
***AN HOUR LATER***
*Virginia stared into the mirror, eyes wide with horror.*
"Oh my God," *she breathed.
For the first time in her life, it wasn't a prayer.*

*Sylvia noted that Virginia had taken some time in her preparations. If it was her first time to create such an illusion of herself, thing might be difficult for her. She tapped gently on the door and then opened it. There was Virginia. Or at least some macabre echo of one. Is this what she thinks she will be? A tarted up street walker? This could take more work than I thought. She approached her gently, a sympathetic smile on her lips.*
“Sweet Virginia, would you like some help? I think that perhaps I did not give you enough direction.”
*She grabbed a handkerchief from the vanity.*

*Virginia nodded miserably.* "It didn't look right to begin with...so I kept adding more..." *She went to the washbasin and began to wipe her face off, removing all traces of the horror she'd wrought. She patted her face dry and turned back to Sylvia with bare face, tingling from the scrubbing she'd given it.* "How do I even start?"

*Sylvia smiled gently, picking up the powder puff.*
“The true secret of allure is subtly. The only way for men to notice your charm is if they can see you, not a mask you create. You accentuate, not conceal.”
*She lightly powdered Virginia’s face, allowing a pause for her to see the desired effect in the mirror.*
“See? You are a lovely canvas, smooth and delicate. Now we draw attention to the desired features, primarily the eyes and mouth. The cheeks need only show the flush of a quivering flower not that of an exhausted work horse.”
*She moved through the other pigments, stopping between each application to allow Virginia’s observation of it. When she finished, Virginia looked a tempting vision. Sylvia smiled.*
“There you are. What do you think?”

*Virginia peeped at her reflection, wide-eyed.* "...it's...me. But not quite...but it is..." *She turned to Sylvia with a soft smile.* "Thank you. I'm certain I'll do a better job next time than I did tonight." *She squared her shoulders, beginning to beam a little with confidence in her new appearance.* "What happens now?" *she asked bluntly.*

*Sylvia lowered her hands to her lap and pursed her lips.*
“Well my sweet, that is up to you. If you would like, I can continue your lessons privately, you might ask me any questions you have on techniques or principles…or we might introduce you. In the sitting room. It is entirely your decision. I do not want to rush you if you are not ready. I want to offer any comfort I can.”

*Virginia cocked her head to one side, thinking.* "Well, I'm keen to look into what actually--then again, to learn more might..." *Her brows drew together lightly.* "I doubt--" *she paused.* "I don't know how easy it might be to find a...a gentleman who might...be, er...patient enough for...practicing."

*Sylvia nodded slightly in understanding. Her voice was sympathetic, but to the point.*
“If you want, I can arrange a gentleman for you to study with, but I won’t be able to tonight. If you would like to practice, I would be happy to sit in as a substitute.”
*She licked her lips slowly, looking at Virginia intently. Her words were like velvet.*
“Seduce me.”
*She lowered her eyes again.*
“If you can manage to sell me on your charms, no man will be able to resist you.”

*Virginia glanced up uncertainly at Sylvia from under her dark eyelashes.* "B-but I...I haven't got any charms," *she said, bewildered.* "And...I d-don't know what you w-want. I--I assumed men were simpler creatures than women when it came t-to seduction," *she stumbled through speaking, looking a little lost.*

((I might be enjoying this a little too much. Alex very much wants to offer up her services as... practice.))

*Sylvia raised her brow gently.*
“That may be. Do you think that I don’t know what men want and how they respond to stimuli?”
*She wetted her lips, trying to figure out the best way to explain it.*
“Pretend, Virginia. Pretend that I am a man. Can you do that?”

*Virginia nodded slowly and stood, clasping her hands behind her back for a moment as she focused and an expression of concentration stole across her delicate features.*
"So first I must...put you at ease," *she muttered aloud to herself, recalling what she'd already learned. She hesitantly reached out and took Sylvia's hand in hers and drew her towards the bed, gently, silently inviting her to situate herself among the richly embroidered cushions and softly scented sheets.*
"And--and then..." *Virginia traced her hand lightly along the tendon that stood out on Sylvia's slim neck.*
"You must close your eyes," *she whispered, smoothing her gentle fingertips across Sylvia's brow and temples a moment before her hand dropped.*
"I'm talking too much," *she said worriedly, inwardly cursing herself for having made a mess of things so early on.*

*Sylvia’s eyes opened gently and studied Virginia. Her voice was soothing.*
“It’s all right. We should start smaller. Simpler. Seduction is not about the act of lovemaking, it is about creating desire. You shouldn’t have to say anything. Often the way you move will get you further than a silver tongue. Use your body to entice before you touch the other person. Make him want to be touched by you. Like this.”
*She sat up, pausing for a moment, collecting herself. Her demeanor shifted, slinking into a come-hither persona that dripped raw desire. She sold it in her eyes, her lips, the way she sat. She caressed her fingertips over her own neck and down her collarbone, breathing such that her chest was accentuated. She pursed her lips gently, wantonly and lowered her eyes, raising them briefly to Virginia in a lustful glance beneath dark lashes. Her voice was languid.*
“Make them want it. Crave it. Burn for only what you can provide.”
*Her expression lightened.*
“Now show me.”

*Virginia bit her lower lip and stood up, walking over to the window to collect herself. She pressed her palms against the cool glass and leaned close to it, her breath creating a mist on the panes.*
Get it together...find a way...think, Virginia, think...
*Virginia raised her head and stared out the window. Her fingers drew a swirling pattern, sinuous and unbroken in the fog upon the window.*
I have to believe I can already feel ecstasy...
*Her left hand remained upon the window as her right fell to her side, almost absentmindedly tracing the contour of her hip and thigh beneath the full skirt of her dress. She took a deep breath, making a half-fist in the rich material of the gown, and turned her head to look back to where Sylvia sat, her dark eyes aglow with passion--but a flame much subtler than the other woman's. There was temptation here, yes--deliberate and calculated, if a little unhoned--but there also existed the vulnerable fragility that was a part of Virginia's essence, and wholly unbanishable from her spirit.
She could make one need her; but only by appearing to need them in return.*

*Sylvia smiled genuinely.*
“That’s it! That is your spark. Keep it, hold it. Make it brighter.”
*She stood, her demeanor returning to wantonness. She slunk over to Virginia, their skin almost touching, the heat of her breath against her flesh. She held for a moment, her lips quivering.*
“Convince me.”
*Shifting her weight between her hips, she walked backwards in perfect balance, her body fluid like the music of the snake charmer.*
“Come to me. Convince me I want you. I need you.”
