She gingerly sat on the offered coat, not wanting to mess it up. It was a nice coat, after all.
"Thanks to you. You're the one who figured it all out."

Jekyll was not thinking about his coat.
"It's little enough, all things considered," he said, sitting beside her on the grass. "Are you warm enough?" He watched her anxiously. He would be able to pay little attention to the sunrise, and he suddenly realized that this was very dangerous, if she was wrong and wasn't entirely cured.

"Yep...cold or hot actually has a feeling again."

"Good," he said. "You will let me know if you feel anything odd; I must monitor your situation in case something I have not taken into account occurs."

"No worries--I'll tell you the moment something funny starts happening."
The sky was lightening, now, the horizon slowly turning a soft shade of pink.

The sunrise was, doubtless, beautiful. Jekyll knew that, but it was intellectual. He was watching Lucy. Perhaps the way he'd regard a patient, but it was more than that.
More, that Jekyll did not want to think about. He still didn't know what to do with the feelings born of mingled personalities.

Her excitement died down a bit as the sky turned lighter, and she experienced a brief moment of panic as the sun started to crest the horizon--what if it had only partially worked, and she would still fry to a crisp? But surely, something that ridiculous wouldn't happen? Then again, she'd drank a potion that turned her into "Lucille" and "John", so...
All of that fell away, however, when the only effect the sunrise had on her was to gently warm her face with the growing light. The rays were acting like they should, and the sun itself was beautiful.
"It works, all right." She sighed.

For some reason, the sight of sunlight on her face moved Jekyll in a way he was loathe to examine.
He didn't.
Unconsciously, he put an arm around her shoulders, careful not to think about what he might be doing, and watched the sun rise with her.

She put an arm around him in response, having not compunctions at all about it, and leaned her head on his shoulder.

Jekyll stiffened, but did not move away.
It was pleasant, actually, and he allowed himself to feel that sense of triumph. Or more precisely, to admit to it. Surely that was fair. He'd cured her; she was no longer a danger to herself or others.
Though there was still Lucille to worry about.

Her smile slowly turned to a grin.
"Now I'm thinking of all the places I can go to now, places that look better in the day."

Jekyll smiled gently down at her.
"Where will you go?" he asked.

"Landmarks. You can see the details better in the sun--all the little extra thingies that shadows hide. Like...the opera house. There's little statues and things you can't see if they're all hiding in the dark."

'Do you like opera?" he asked, unable to hide his surprise. He was still, after all, a Victorian gentleman; as close as he'd grown to this woman, she was still a dance hall singer, and certain realities escaped him.

"I got to, when Lucille went...always wanted to go back, but as myself."
She hadn't entirely understood the opera Lucille had gone to see, but she'd enjoyed it nonetheless.
