Ramsey cantered his horse skillfully into the Bois de Boulogne, taking in the fresh air and the green natural surroundings.
"I so love these gardens," he said to the ladies in the carriage, slowing his horse in order to talk to them. "I come here as often as I can."

"I have never seen a garden more happily situated," *murmured Elizabeth, distracted from her companions almost to the point of ignoring them in favour of taking in the lush greenery and delicious scents of the fair prospect in sun and summer breeze.*

"You speak as if you hail from the country, Miss Bennet," Ramsey inquired, turning his stallion to ride on her side of the carriage.

"I do indeed, sir, from Hertfordshire," *said Elizabeth with a merry little grin.*

"Hertfordshire, indeed?" Ramsey exclaimed. "Do you know of Gloucestershire? My estate is located there."

*Buffy rolled her eyes at the proper dialogue with ensued. Was this really how people talked? It was like being back at Hemory, only worse. Like, no kissing was every going to happen.
Not that she was, you know, interested. In kissing. After all, she was probably dead, and this was probably Hell, and she doubted anything good would come of it.*
So... what do you guys do for fun? You know, in the Shire or whatever?

"I regret that I have never been to Glouchestershire, though it is so near to Hertfordshire--I hear it boasts many beauties. We--my aunt and uncle Gardinder and myself--had been planning to pass through the shire when making our journey northward, to the Lakes. Some business came up for my uncle, and we must now content ourselves with the Continent." *Elizabeth turned to Miss Summers with a smile.* "We find our share of amusement in Hertfordshire in many trifling ways. I often share jokes with my father, there are plenty of interesting people about to observe, no lack of good books to read, and--my sister Lydia would say this is the chief and only way to enjoy oneself--there is sometimes a ball or two to pass the time. It may well seem dull to you, Miss Summers, and certainly would be to yourself, Lord Cheltenham, but we keep ourselves industrious enough out in the country." *She tilted her head at the gentleman.* "I imagine you spend most of your time in town, Sir? A country estate, at your time in life, may be more a matter of business than a means of pleasure and retirement. I fancy you'd much prefer the excitement of town. Unless of course, you have a wife and family residing in the country." *A small frown passed quickly over Elizabeth's brow, and disappeared just as soon, as though she had momentarily thought of someone disagreeable in her past.* "Have you any sisters, Sir?"

*Buffy tried to pay attention to the conversation. She really did. But it was so blasted boring! While a ball sounded pretty cool, the whole "jokes with my dad" thing fell kinda flat in her estimation. And gardens never were her... what was that word? Milieu, right. She suspected this wasn't getting her any closer to home. And there wasn't anyone to fight. She sighed and attempted to focus again on the conversation.*

Evey laughed delightedly , she could not honestly say she had ever ridden in a carriage before--the Chancelor had not exactly allowed victorian carriages in the London streets. she listened to the coversation partly, she did enjoy the formality...it reminded her of him. Smiling, she turned to Buffy and leaned in, " 'Miss Bennet' is quite the english lady now isn't she?" Evey said in an undertone.

*Buffy rolled her eyes at Evey.* It's like a different language! *she whispered back, happy, at least, that Evey was there. Evey made sense to her, sort of. Well, as much as anything ever did, around her.* But... it is pretty here. Just no action.

Evey laughed softly, "I don't know about you, but I could use a break from action. and it's nice to see everything natural..." she paused, "and free"

"Where I'm from, a break in the action means someone's gonna die," Buffy said, and sighed. "Makes me nervous. Oh, all the plants all in neat little rows? That's wiggy."

Evey shrugged, "funny how that works, back in my time," she stopped, "well, ahead in my time, whenever I've seen something happen, it's always been for the worse." she shook her head, "even when people try to undo the damage, people die." her mind drifted back to V in the Jordan Tower...Evey stopped her thoughts before they got away with her. she looked over to where Buffy had glanced and laughed softly.

"Yeah... I guess they die anyway..." Buffy's mind drifted too; to her mom, her sister, Angel, everyone she'd lost and everyone she'd almost let down. "I guess it doesn't matter, really, what we do." She shook herself. "But it's kinda my sworn duty to, you know, try."
