Landing outside of Wayne Manor, Clark adjusted the pack on his back. He looked more like a drifter than a man who had any place on the Wayne estate.
Heading up the steps, he rang the doorbell and attempted very casually to put on his best reporter smile.

Alfred sighed as he stood from the small kitchen nook where he took his morning tea and looked up to the monitor that showed the front porch.
With a large smile, he hurried to the front door "Mr. Kent a pleasure to see you."

"Hey Alfred" he shook the old butlers hand and casually strolled in to the foyer.
He'd only been inside once and it still managed to take his breath away "How have you been?"

"Uh, well, or as well as one such as myself can be" seeing Clark Kent was a breath of fresh air "but I don't imagine you're here to speak to an old man, I'll fetch Master Wayne for you."

"Oh no worries" he clasped Alfred on the shoulder "I see where he is."

He knew why he was here, things had gone quite bad since New Years and he was sure by now he'd most likely heard about Miss Lane.
He reached up and touched Clark's shoulder and nodded, heading back toward the kitchen.
Alfred could only hope that he didn't lay it to hard on Bruce.

He walked slowly, practicing his lines in his head, talking to Bruce Wayne as Clark Kent had been a challenge, he could only imagine what it was going to be like now.
As he came in to the study, the familiar site of Bruce Wayne typing in front of a computer came in to view and the only thing Clark could think to say was "Hello Bruce."

Bruce...was not doing good, and one could tell just by looking at him. Haggard and tired, mostly. He glanced up at his guest and for a moment didn't even recognize him.
Wait, it was...that reporter. Lois' friend.
"Kent? I don't do interviews anymore."

"I didn't come for an interview" he removed his glasses and pushed them inside of his pocket.
Bruce Wayne looked like death, there was no way else to explain it. He wasn't half the man he'd been six months ago and looked as if he hadn't seen sunlight in days.
Clark plopped his pack unceremoniously on a chair and sat down, managing to dwarf the chair.

He sat back, studying Clark for a moment. Was the reporter always that tall?
"What brings you here?"
He couldn't think of what else would bring a reporter to his house, other than to try and find the reclusive Bruce Wayne for a few words.

Clark smiled, looking very much the image of light the media had built him up to be.
"I'm here, because you were the last person to see Lois Lane alive" he sat up straight, his shoulders suddenly looking wider than normal.
He wasn't sure if Wayne knew who he was, or that he knew that Clark knew who Wayne was. But in order to get Bruce to trust him, he had no choice but to confess.

The mention of Lois was followed by a very clearly visible slump in Bruce's shoulders.
"That's not easy for me to talk about," he said gruffly. "And I know it's not easy for you...you were good friends."
It almost sounded strange to hear is own voice, he so rarely spoke these days. And when he did, it was as Batman, a voice that was very different from Bruce.

If Bruce Wayne remembered anything about Clark Kent, he'd know the man he was speaking to was much different than him.
Here goes nothing.
"We were more than that, once."

He coughed.
"Well...yes. I know."
He was trying to avoid that subject, though he knew realistically that it would be impossible to for any length of time.
"I don't know what to tell you about her disappearance. I didn't see what happened. Just..."
That note. He still had it, locked away in his desk, honestly not knowing what to do with it. Not able to throw it away. Not wanting to keep it.

"But you've investigated it, you can not tell me you've found nothing?"
He stared deep in to Bruce's eyes.
Clark had left her in his hands, he had been responsible for her safety and to say that he was upset was putting it lightly. He managed to keep his cool, it was obvious Lois's disappearance weighed very heavily on Wayne's mind. But he would take no stops in finding out everything he knew.
