She made a guttural sound in her throat and her hands flamed up "You've ruined a perfectly beautiful afternoon, simply by existing."

"Well then I've accomplished quite a feat indeed," Luxord said haughtily over his cards, "Since we nobodies don't truly exist at all. Perhaps you've merely a short temper?"

"I am not one of you!" She screamed "I gave my heart for a higher cause, you're just a freak!"

Luxord's smile darkened, turning murderous, "A freak, am I? Gave your heart did you? Willingly? And I'm sure you managed to keep your emotions, your love... how lucky." Luxord swept his hand down and his deck spread out, his cards rapidly beginning to float around him in rings.
"You didn't give anything for what you received, and yet you choose to judge us? I would wager you don't even have to worry about simply disappearing from the world's collective memory do you?" He was almost yelling now, "How lucky you are!"

Adrien watched this exchange in relative silence but grew increasingly irate.
"She didn't give her heart," he sneered, pulling Aideen behind him. "I took it from her. If you want someone to accuse...let the blame fall on me."

Luxord huffed angrily at this man. He was really getting into this angry rant of his, and this man had to go and cut it short, "The heartless who stole my heart was a beast and a monster, but I do not blame it for it's nature. But she has wronged me now fully conscious of what she was saying; insulted me. However willing she is to overlook her heart, she's no right to cast blame when all that has been done was her own doing."
He tilted his head, "You seem to think yourself responsible for her. What say you to a bet? You win, and I shall apologize for existing so opposite her ideals and leave you both alone for as long as I walk about. And if I win, you pay her debt to me."

He stared curiously at the man and his deck of his cards, tilting his head to one side, his cold blue eyes unblinking in a strange and unnerving reptilian sort of manner.
"I say I agree to this bet. Its terms sound relatively reasonable," he finally returned. "Shall we shake on it? Or would that be far too assumptive of our respective characters?"

Aideen turned to Adrien, suddenly afraid "I don't like this and what debt do I owe you gambler?" She turned her head back to the man and squinted her eyes "My life? Why? Because you attacked me alone in a forest weeks ago?"

"Attacked? My my, how short our memories are, aren't they?"
Luxord began to walk in a slow lazy circle around then, a hunter circling prey. "Remember my dear, I told you I had no intention of killing you. Twice actually. I said I was part of a group and implied we were searching for our lost hearts, then when you insisted on violence I proposed a game. You attacked first with the intent to kill me, and without considering the idea that there might have been another way to win the game."
After completing a full circle he held his hand out to Adrien, "I also have no intention of killing you Oh Stoic one, but realize you will be facing some serious charges. If your punishment leads to death it will only be because you refused to play the game right."

Aideen's whole body began to smoke, as if the fire inside of her was begging to be let out.

He accepted his hand and shook firmly, if not roughly.
"I consent. To the death it shall be. That is, if it requires us to go that far."

"No!" She turned to Adrien "I only won against him because of good stroke of luck" she grabbed his shoulders, her hands like hot coals "if he win's Adrien-"

"Correction!" Luxord called out loudly, "You won nothing!"
Aideen was pushed back roughly as an invisible wall expanded outwards from Luxord. Within the wall time stopped, and an eery stillness took over the area within. Leaves that had been blown about by the wind stopped in place. Where the grass swayed, it stood still. And Aideen, still standing in the same position she was in before, arms extended outwards, now stood just on the edge of the field frozen in place. She would be able to see everything in real time, but she wouldn't be able to move.
"The rules are simple," Luxord raised his hand to the far end of the field, where just above Aideen two giant clocks appeared, "Whoever runs out of time first, loses the game."

A low sizzling noise emitted where Aideen held him by the shoulders, and it steamed. As the wall extended around them, it froze this vapor in place as well, and Adrien retreated a few steps before glancing about to find the source of this strange occurrence.
Of course.
"I understand and abide by your rules. I only ask--demand--that you release Aideen from this...magic of yours," he stated, inclining his head in her general direction.

Luxord cocked his head sideways, "I have no real hold over her right now. All time is stopped for all but the players. I can make time flow for her, but she will not be able to move from that spot." Luxord summoned several man-sized cards that started to float in lines around him as he spoke, "If it's any consolation sir, being outside the play area she cannot be effected by anything we might do. She will be safe outside of time."
