Alfred wiped the tears from his eyes, it was like she was dying all over again.
Taking a deep breath he shook off the sadness and tried to smile, catching the groundskeepers eyes "Monsieur!" He called out and ran to fill his mind with trivial things.

A curtain in one of the windows on the second floor twitched, and then the shadowy figure behind it stepped back. Several times, he'd been tempted to come down to the room, to say something, though what he didn't know. What more was there to say? He'd likely end up repeating himself and doing no one any good. Besides, she was putting the past behind her--wasn't it time he did the same? With a sigh, the man who was two very different people wrapped up in one made his way down to the cave. He had to keep searching for Lois, come hell or highwater. He wasn't going to give up on her .
