Alfred smiled "No I couldn't, even if I wanted to, Bruce wouldn't have let me."

Jess released the air from her throat slowly, her baggage from London was sitting on the side of the bed, the clothes were taken out and hung up, but her journal and everything else just sat inside.
She kneeled down next to it and sighed "I really fucked up didn't I?"

Alfred smiled "No, I don't think you fucked up. I think you made a long string of bad decisions, that affected more people than you ever intended. You did what you thought was right, even if it was wrong in the long run. But you seem to be doing all right for yourself, working for the museum, in a, I hope healthy, relationship and having an adventure that's all your own."
He moved a little further in to the room "No one hates you, you know."

Jess laughed "That's one way of putting it" she removed the journal and flipped through it, noting a couple burned pages covered in green writing. It might give her more insight in to what was really going on those nights she wasn't herself.
She looked up from the journal to smile "I never thought they hated me, it was more of a loathe thing really."

Alfred chuckled and sat down slowly on the bed "No one loathes you either, at least no one I know."

Jess plopped down on the floor "Sometimes I wish things would go back to the way they were, it wasn't the simple life, but it was good."

"Is your life now not good?"

"It's great" Jess smiled, leaning her head on the bed post "it's so great, that it's weird. London is nothing like Paris, and with my job, well I've barely settled in and they've all ready sent me out here. I don't even have a title yet" she cracked her neck and fumbled through some of her things, finding a comb she'd had forever.
"Everything's pretty much perfect."

"You mean it's boring."

Jess laughed "Not exactly, I don't have enough time for things to get boring. Life is moving really quickly, just as it always has."

Alfred sighed "Ms. Jess, it's almost as if you were happier when things were exploding all around."

Jess laughed "Maybe I was, who knows life might be picking up soon. I came here to talk to a woman who's in possession of Excalibur, and just happens to be through legend, King Arthur's blood lineage."

Alfred lifted his eyebrows "Well that should put England in a frenzy."

"If they believe me" Jess sighed "I can only imagine how many test they're going to put the sword through. Then how many tests they're going to put her through" she shrugged.

Alfred shrugged "Does this woman plan on attaching herself to the crown after everything is said and done?"
