"Honestly? I don't think so, she seems more than a little freaked out about the whole thing" Jess arched her back and pulled the bag on to her bed, and started rearranging things. "She's a sweet girl, but I don't think she's really one to run a country."

Alfred laughed "Well I imagine, now who's on the throne at the moment? In modern days, well let's not talk about hrm?"

Jess laughed "That's more of a conversation then I was hoping for, right now, it's Queen Victoria, as in the Victorian era queen. She who basically created what this time period is. I don't imagine Sarah, the girl, would want to try and upsurp her."

Jess chuckled "I figure if anything, we'll try to keep it secret as long as possible. I don't imagine she wants to be too much trouble, for anyone."

"Mmm" he stood up with a groan and went over to the curtains and slowly began to open them, drenching the room with sun. He smiled suddenly "Ms. Jess-?"

Jess turned around to the window and caught her breath, in the center of the window, where a crack had been, was a piece of stained glass she'd made.
"I guess I was missed more than I thought."

"You should see the library" he smiled "I had someone come in and finish what you had started, but there was a piece missing. I wondered where it had gone."

Jess walked over to the window and touched it "Alfred-" she turned to him with a sad smile "I think, it might be best, if I stayed away. I never intended to be a mary sue" she laughed, knowing he'd know what she'd be talking about.
When she was writing, she'd told him all about it "Since I came to Paris, I've done so much to become one, if it wasn't falling in to my lap, it was falling apart and I did nothing to stop it. But I've got a chance to really make my mark, to do something more than be a damsel in distress and I've got to take it. I'm going back to school, I'm working where I've always wanted to work and doing what I've always wanted to do, and it's been almost all through my own work. I-"
She stopped and looked behind her, searching the shadows, knowing he wouldn't be there, but wishing he was "I still love Bruce" she said "I always will and for the sake of sounding cheesy, they'll always be a part of my heart that belongs to him. But that part of my life I ruined, ruined by being exactly what I didn't want to be."
Jess laughed "And here I am, being all melodramatic, not helping my situation in the slightest."

Alfred listened with a the smile he gave Bruce when he was being the same way, it was a mixture of humility and concern.
"Melodrama was one of the things that kept you and Mr. Wayne together I imagine" he chuckled and touched her chin "but don't you worry about a thing. You'll make your mark, now come on, let's get your things together."

Jess nodded with a smile and started pulling things from the closet, although the clothes would never fit her the same way again, she still wanted them. Alfred grabbed her a few dress bags and helped her put some of the more difficult dresses in them.
After a while, everything she had left there was sitting on the bed, it wasn't much, two suitcases and a few dress bags.
It was all so surreal really, she had planned on just leaving these things here forever, hoping they'd be donated eventually and her books burned. Although, she knew Alfred would have insisted on putting them in the library.
Wiping the small beads of sweat from her brow she turned to Alfred and without a word they both picked up a suitcase and a bag and headed out to her car.

After Jess popped the trunk, Alfred took the liberty of filling it, he was used to it and actually didn't much mind it after all these years.
As he finished he closed it, noticing Jess staring up at the manor "Miss Jess?"

He nodded "Of course" he lifted his arms and took the woman in to a hug "this isn't the last I'll see of you Jessica Cartwright" he said, for the first time using her full name "I'm sure of it."

Jess hugged him tightly "Who knows what the future will hold, you keep your eyes on the history channel, you might see me there one day."
She released him "Bye Alfred."
