**CASS**
*Cassiopeia smiled.*
"Of course. I'd be delighted to show you around the Opera, Monsieur..."
*She blushed, having forgotten to ask his name.*
"Excuse me, but I've forgotten to ask your name."

"Skywalker. Luke Skywalker."
*He was a little ashamed of his lack of manners. Those certainly hadn't been the priority on Degobah.*

*She smiled and curtseyed.*
"Pleased to make your aquaintance, Monsieur Skywalker. It seems you've spared me from cleaning these statues, and I am in your debt. Might I repay you by giving you a tour of the Opera House?" *She asked brightly.*

**NEW DAY**

*NEW NIGHT*
With a muffled thud, Cloud fell head-first into a large bank of snow. His sword loosened from its sheath and madly whirled atop the thin layer of ice that coated the opera house's rooftop. Cloud cursed aloud and heaved himself to his feet, brushing off the white particles that adorned the blonde spikes of his hair.
He bent down to retrieve his sword and strode to the roof's edge. Lights glimmered seductively, filling his vision with unfamiliar garish colors and signs. This was not Gaia--or the one he knew, at least.

Not long before, Aerith had...returned. She didn't know how, nor why, but she was here again, nonetheless, in the flesh. Wherever "here" was, anyway; no, it didn't look at all like Gaia. The city was almost like Midgar, but...not, really. It was almost disturbing, she thought, gazing down at the lights. Why would she be chosen to return, here of all places?
Thus she stood, on the edge of the roof, her form silhouetted dimly, still holding her staff. Needless to say, she was startled by the noise from behind, and whirled, almost losing her grip on the ground. Someone was here; she raised her weapon, anxiously. "Who's there? Don't ever sneak up on me like that!"

Cloud wheeled and warily positioned his Buster Sword between himself and the stranger, ready to strike if need be. Despite his alarm, his grasp upon the weapon was not as firm as it should have been. There was an oddly familiar quality about that voice that he simply couldn't place. Far too familiar.
"Show yourself!" he exclaimed, beads of cold sweat gathering on his brow. Cloud was all too willing to concede to the fact that he had finally gone off the deep end.

Aerith at first took a step back; it seemed that wherever this was, it wasn't that different from Gaia. Then...she looked closer. She could swear she saw a pair of sparks in the darkness, and that outline was--could it be? Could it really be? She decided to take a chance.
Taking a few steps forward into the light, she huffed, trying not to sound as if her heart was pounding like mad, face now dimly lit as she caught sight of just who it really was. "Is that any way for a bodyguard to act...?"
((And, if this were the game, her theme music would start right about...now.))

Cloud instantly lowered his guard, despite the potential danger that this posed. His hold on his weapon loosened considerably.
"...Aerith, is that you?"

It is him! So...I haven't lost him after all...
Aerith immediately shifted her stance to nonthreatening--she had no other choice, the emotions flowing over her at this moment far too strong to do otherwise. It was good to be back, if only for this. "Of course, Cloud," she murmured. "I'm here, and we're going to be alright now, aren't we?" Her characteristic, even enigmatic, smile played lightly over her face, her eyes seeming to glow almost as much as his with her excitement.
"But...how did you get here? Weren't you with...with Tifa?"

Cloud...((He doesn't have to immediately come down, but I figured that, since they were around the same building... that's just a mental "message" from Sephiroth.))

((Okay, cool.))
"Of course we'll be all right," Cloud returned gently--or at least, with an absence of his usual callousness. He sheathed his sword and strode hastily towards Aerith. Once beside the girl, he discovered that he didn't know quite what to do with his hands and left them dangling by his sides.
Cloud shrugged. "I just...fell here. And, well, I was with Tifa, a few moments ago," he replied, completely overlooking Aerith's unspoken question. "Anyways, how'd you end up here?" His utterance of the words brought with it a strange sensation that pulsated throughout Cloud's being. He shuddered; it bore the traces of a dark magical energy.
He ignored it, for the time being.

At least he was here. Aerith smiled at him, her own hands clasped at her chest, wondering just what he might think about all this, and whether....well, that was probably getting ahead of herself. After all, she wasn't sure just what he had been doing since she had been gone. Akwardly, she shifted from one foot to the other, watching him and shivering slightly.
Sighing quietly to herself, Aerith nodded. Same old Cloud. He never could take a hint when it came to romance, could he? Looking away briefly, she entirely missed Cloud's strange reaction. "Well...the last thing I knew, I was...well, it could only have been the Lifestream. But, a short while ago, I felt something in it, pulling at me, and--well, I wound up here, falling. No, I know it doesn't make sense," she added in advance.

Cloud lowered his gaze to the ground. "Nothing ever made sense," he spoke quietly, more to himself than to her. "But you're here now."
With me.
"That's what counts, right?"

No, nothing ever had made sense. Ever since she had run into him for that first time...she sometimes wondered just what curious chance it was that had made them meet, but she had never really regretted it. Even as she had lain dying, she knew that her life had been better to have Cloud in it.
But does he know that's how I feel?
"Of course. Of course it is..." She wanted to embrace him.
((Sorry for taking so long.))
