*She certainly didn't talk like a woman in the middle of a warzone.*
That would be... very nice, thanks.

**CASS**
*She smiled.*
"Are you here to find work? We're always looking for stagehands... or are you here to find someone? You seem a little worried about something, what is it?"
*She spoke this all a little fast, as she always did when meeting someone new.*
"Oh, sorry, I think I was getting ahead of myself. Irish run-of-the-mouth, you see."
*She grinned sheepishly.*

*Irish? He hadn't heard of that race before. Still, she looked human enough.*
"No, I'm not looking for work. I'm just looking for my friends. I guess I got lost; that's what I'm worried about."
No need to tell her I'm on the run from my father, the Emperor's right-hand man.

*She thought for a second.*
"What are your friends' names? I might know them, if they're involved in the opera, and if not, I'm bound to know someone who does. And if you're lost, I'm sure I could point you in the right direction." *She said, trying to be helpful.*

"I doubt they're involved in the... opera. But they're named Leia. And Han. But probably not, because of the carbonite thing. Leia's... well, she's beautiful. And a princess. She's pretty much perfect in every way--can't be too many of those running around here."

*Cassiopeia snorted.*
"You'd be surprised how many perfect people seem to be in one place. The Opera seems to draw them. What's carbonite?" *SHe inquired, cocking her head.*

"Freezing process," *he said absently, looking around again.* "This Opera... is it some kind of temple, to attract so many?"

*Cassie chewed a lip and thought for a second.*
"I don't really know. But lots of people tend to show up here; it's like a Mecca of music, so I suppose it might be like a temple. But it wasn't created with worship in mind. It was made so that singers could perform, composers could display their work, and so that the high-society peacocks could show off their feathers while appearing to be cultured. There's a performance tonight, and I'm sure I could get you in so you could see."

"Interesting. I don't know if I'll have time to take in a show, but I appreciate the offer. Are you one of these performers?"

*She smiled, blushed, and shook her head.*
"No, I clean up after them. I've wanted to audition for a while, but I've been busy."

*Luke frowned. The Republic would end this servitude. These out worlds would benefit immensely from the destruction of the Empire.*
"Don't worry. I'm certain we'll prevail, and they won't be able to make you serve them. I'm so sorry."

*She looked at him strangely, as if she had no idea what he was talking about, which, of course, she didn't.*
"Well, it's not servitude... I'm not a slave. I'm paid well enough, and I applied for this job a few months ago--I'm saving up for passage on a ship to New York, so that I can see my family."
*She raised one eyebrow.*
"And what exactly are we prevailling against?"
*She desperately hoped he wasn't delusional, because then she would have to take himm to the infirmary.*

*Luke frowned. Being careful was all very well, but this seemed ridiculous.*
"Why, the Empire, of course," *he said.* "I'm not familiar with New York; is that planet far from here?"

*She stared at him for a second.*
"New York is a city across the Atlantic Ocean, and the only Empire I can think of is that of Napoleon Bonaparte, but he's been dead for years. France is its own republic, monsieur. The Revolution happened quite some time ago."
*She looked him over for a second.*
"Are you quite sure you didn't hit you head when you fell?"

*Luke stared at her.*
"Years ago? But then... I must have moved through time as well as space," *he muttered to himself. But it did no good to appear crazy.*
"I think I'm just a little disoriented," *he told her.* "Of course New York is a city across the ocean."
But who is Napoleon Bonaparte? And what is France?
"Perhaps if you'll just show me around this... opera... I'll get my bearings back."
