After another few minutes, Ingrid stopped suckling. Adrian tentatively tugged the bottle away from her mouth to see if she started again, but she only smacked her lips and snuggled in.
"Out like a light," he said, smiling gently. "Here, I'm going to go put her down, all right?"

Dan grabbed the bottle and went back in to the kitchen to clean it.

Adrian returned a few minutes later.
"Well," he said, "that gives us until... I'm guessing about midnight?"

He looked down at his watch as he was drying the bottle and nodded "Yeah that's about right."

He pushed himself up onto the counter and immediately gasped and reached for his right arm.

Dan stopped himself from grabbing him and frowned "You okay?"

"Yeah- there's just too much bone left in my arm," he muttered. "That's what I get for self-amputating. I'm going to probably have to have it shortened and capped after all. It's all right..."

Dan caught his meaning and nodded "Understood."
There was a few dishes left in the sink and Dan started on them slowly.

"If she's too much of a distraction, I can try to be home more often," Adrian said. "Multitasking is sort of my fortè, and..."
He sighed, but he smiled too.
"I don't think I'll be spending as much time with Teja anymore."
