Adrian looked like he was trying not to laugh.

Dan did laugh "I also said golly and jeepers, you can imagine the fear I struck in my enemies."

"Well, you were a kid," Adrian conceded.

"Yeah" Dan said with a sad smile.

Adrian didn't see any correlation between that and Dan being only a few years younger than he himself was.
Adrian pulled himself up to the edge of the pool and disconnected his swimming prosthesis. He set it on the concrete edge and rubbed his forearm.
"Water seal's faulty," he muttered.

Dan swam over to where he was and eyeballed the prosthesis. His glasses where near enough that he was able to grab them and take a look at the seal.
"I do still find myself saying gosh" he admitted as he squinted at the piece in the darkness of the pool. He was just more interest in looking at the prosthesis than anything "usually when I've had a breakthrough."

"It's taken nearly nine months but I'm finally starting to get annoyed by this thing," Adrian said, lifting his maimed arm.

He looked up for a moment before looking back at the piece. The seal was faulty, but it had more to do with the material than anything.
He wasn't sure what to say about Adrian's arm, but he didn't imagine losing an appendage was ever something you'd get used to let alone not be annoyed by.

"It's fine," he said dismissively. "It doesn't matter anyway- it's good to know I can be broken. It's good."

Dan nodded "Yeah, sure" it seemed a little self destructive to him, but who was he to judge?
"But I mean, if you ever needed to feel like you could be broken just ask" Dan smiled as he gently pressed in a piece of prosthesis and set in down. "But then again, that may do me more favors than it does you." If he had it in him to wink he would have, instead he just dunked himself back under the water.
He had begun to feel his hair dry and was not prepared for that particular embarrassment.

"Dan-"

He heard his name as he came up but gave no response other than to turn his head in Adrian's direction.

"...I might."

Dan smiled and ran his fingers through his hair before dunking his head back under the water and smoothing it back down.
He swam over to Adrian and laid between his dangling legs, kissing his right calf. "Whenever you need-"

Adrian sighed and widened his eyes before abruptly shutting them again. He pushed his damp hair back, and it stayed this time.
"All right. That's good to know."
