Between the harness and Teja's lovely yearning mouth, Adrian's shirtless chest looked as though he had lost a fight.
He was leaning over the sink on his left hand and instinctively covering his mouth as he coughed with the maimed remnant of his right arm. It was well after midnight, and he could have kicked himself for letting this happen now, of all times, with Dan asleep in the next room.

Dan was startled awake as Adrian began to cough. He had been dreaming about California Redwoods he visited on a conservation trip for condors.
He reached for his glasses and made his way to the bathroom. Adrian hadn't been home when he'd gone to bed, but that was a common occurrence. He made the right amount of noise, so that when he began gently rubbing Adrians upper back as he coughed he wouldn't scare him.

"Hey," he said when the coughing had subsided.

"Hey" he replied with a tired smile. He noticed Adrians chest and managed to simply raise an eyebrow "I'd ask how you're feeling but I figure that's evident."

"It's asthma," he said, waving the remnant of his right arm. "Don't worry."

"Do you have an inhaler?" Dan wasn't really buying it. "And telling me not to worry works about as well as telling me to calm down."

"Haven't received it yet," Adrian retorted. "I only got the diagnosis last week. Aren't you supposed to be sleeping-"

"Can't really with you in here coughing up a lung" he chuckled "and don't worry about it" he leaned over and kissed him on the shoulder and got a better look at his chest in the mirror. Teja had really done a number on him and he was still too asleep to appreciate it.

"I'm serious, I'm not ill. I promise-"

Dan furrowed his brow for a moment, before nodding "I believe you."
He needed Adrian to believe that, because although he was only mostly convinced something in Adrians tone made him think it was important.
He turned his back to the sink and leaned with his palms "How was your night?"

"Busy," he said with a dry laugh, gesturing at his own chest.

"She's voracious" he smiled drowsily "I hope it was as good for you as it was for her."

He nodded, exhausted, and then blinked.
"...you look doubtful."

"I don't doubt that you enjoy yourself, but I do know that you don't always allow yourself to- get lost in the moment."
He nudged him with a gentle chuckle.

"I meant about the diagnosis, Dan," Adrian said, pinching the bridge of his own nose.
