"I know what you meant" he replied, set a heavy hand on Adrians shoulder and walked in to the bedroom. "You'll have to forgive me if I don't always believe you when it comes to these things, you tend to try and spare my feelings far too often."

"You don't get lung cancer from six months of escalated smoking," Adrian sighed.

"You don't have to smoke to get lung cancer Adrian" he smiled and lifted his hands "and there's no reason to be condescending, which if I have to admit is your default response when it comes to me" his smile didn't waver, in fact he laughed; he was still mostly asleep.
"The bruises are sexy by the way."

Adrian winced harder.
"I'm sorry," he said, turning around.

Dan stood up again "Hey, hey" he touched his hip.

Adrian all but collapsed against him.
"I'm exhausted, Dan," he said, in a low voice.

Dan wrapped his arms underneath Adrians and held him, not too tight, but just tight enough to allow him to loosen up a little.

Adrian leaned his forehead against Dan's shoulder.

He raised one of his hands and placed it behind Adrians head, sort of cradling, and adjusted himself so that his one arm was there in case Adrian did in fact collapse.
He breathed slowly.

"Only if you're coming with" he lowered his hand and gently massaged Adrians neck. He was so tense all the time, he wondered how in the world he managed to stand.

"All right, all right, calm down," Adrian said with a weak laugh. "I'm coming."

Dan smiled and kissed Adrian on the forehead before letting him go. He turned and took off his glasses, dropping them on the side table.
The world was a blur again and he thought, for once, he didn't mind it so much.

Adrian sat down heavily on the end of the bed, pushing his hair back from his face. He sighed, with a bit of a wheeze, and glanced down at his maimed arm with a small frown. It slowly turned into a fond, bemused sort of smile, until he broke into another coughing fit. He gestured for Dan to wait it out.

Dan had just sat down as he started to cough and had reached out before Adrian put his hand up. He had to get used to it, at least for the time being. Adrian didn't even get colds, so it wasn't something he was used to having to get used to.
"Will they be sending you along a nebulizer as well?"
