Dan nodded understanding "Of course, I'll walk you out."

"That's I mean" he chuckled "I'm sorry that seemed like I was rushing you out-"
Now it was his turn to seem anxious.

"I don't mind seeing to myself," she said carefully, but she got up and let him lead her out regardless.

"I believe I have made the worst possible first impression of myself" he chuckled as they got to the door "I apologize, if you look up awkward in the dictionary you'll see my picture guaranteed."

Forty three was a little old to describe oneself as awkward apologetically, she thought. She was starting to get a full picture of exactly the person Adrian said Dan Dreiberg was, why Adrian liked him and what things he didn't. It was almost startling.
"You have yet to meet my fiancé," she said as though awkward was a compelling enough word to describe Loki's mania. "It's fine. I don't know how good an impression I've made either."

"You're fine" he smiled and opened the door.
He was feeling worse and worse the more he talked. He wondered what she would say to Adrian.
She'd made a fine impression and he'd like to get to know her better but under less awkward circumstances.

"I'll probably see you again soon," she said, imagining it was true; Adrian was much better at polyamory than she was, he would like them to know each other.

"I hope so" he meant it, he wanted this all to work out.
He'd really enjoyed talking with Teja until his mouth ran ahead of him like it always did snd made everything weird. He knew that Adrian wanted them to get along and he saw nothing besides some general political differences that would get in the way of that. He imagined if they just strayed away from talking about god or politics everything would be fine.
He actually wanted her to stay longer, meeting her and talking to her was so less stressful than what he was about to do.

She didn't have much of a response to that, so she just said goodbye with a smile that turned into a grimace when her back turned. She couldn't stick around and tell Adrian. She already knew how he would respond.
