"Loki's friends with his brother again; he doesn't want the throne anymore and in truth he never really did in the first place, it was just something he felt he deserved. But he likes it a lot here; well, he likes me, and he likes fast food, and Miami Vice, and doesn't want to give those things up to please a father he hates now. He's been sulking around in absolute dread for days."
She took a deep breath.
"Or... he was.. until last night."

"...perhaps he can be... contained," Adrian said slowly. "Once the inevitable elated comparisons to Jon wind down, they'll remember... how Jon turned out. The government will want to be very, very sure they don't have another one of those to cope with."

"Please don't do this. You know I very specifically tried to stop that from happening. And you have no idea how quickly his mood can turn if he perceives people to be mistrusting him, or using him."

"Then he ought to leave- what he's doing now sounds like a very dangerous game for someone in his position to be playing."

"You say that as though he has any self-awareness."

"Talk to him, then- and advise his brother as well, if you can."

"I don't think it would be a good idea for me to see Thor without Loki there," she said immediately, growing anxious thinking about it.

"I'll come home early and sort this mess out myself if I have to. Loki- pardon me, Teja, but he has no clue what he's done."

"No, he doesn't," she said, the distress in her voice increasing. "Why do you think I called you? I'd have never bothered you if not for something like this, sir."

"Why did you call me, then?" he asked gently.

She stopped, taking a shaky breath.
She experienced a dim flash of warning recognition, but she couldn't help speaking anyway. She was so isolated, and Loki hadn't been any consolation to her in a long time. More accurately, Loki had never been. She'd been the nurturing one from the start, and his attempts to be supportive of her had come recently, belatedly, and were totally inefficient.
She started to speak, haltingly at first, and then more eloquently, despite a few stammers, as she fell into a comfortable speaking pattern, about what dating Loki was like, culminating in her recent reluctance to criticize or leave him because of how she thought he'd react, and the briefly disturbing behavior he'd shown at the Met Gala before that parasite had shown up when he'd stopped time and refused to start it again until they'd talked about things on his terms - when he'd frightened her, and accused her of thinking the worst of him.
"...I feel like it's just a cycle of placation, and I can't leave it. And obviously even when I say I feel I need to placate him, he has to placated for that too-"

Adrian hesitated.
"...Teja, perhaps this is... a bit rich, perhaps, coming from me, but if you're that frightened and uncomfortable, you ought to..."

"I just established why I can't break up with him, to say nothing of the public scrutiny I'm about to get. How nice was the media to your ex wife?"
