Adrian came home still in a fairly poor mood from having had to deal with unwanted visitors of the snivelling-space-Viking kind, but showering eased his nerves somewhat. Regardless, by the time he had put his prosthesis back on and dressed again, he still had a rather annoyed expression on his face when he sat beside Dan on the sofa and gave him a long look.

With his eyes glued to a documentary about civil war weaponry, it took Dan a few seconds to realize Adrian had returned.
He smiled sympathetically "What happened?"

"Honestly," he said, "I'd rather not tell you. You'd get ideas."

He narrowed his eyes "I wont lie I might probe later, but I'll leave it alone for now."
He looked up at the tv and frowned "All that destructive power" he shook his head "and with a single tweak could have gone three times as far."

"And sped up weapon development even further," Adrian said darkly, glancing sidelong at Dan.

"Sure historically" Dan said without skipping a beat, he knew what Adrian was getting at and he wasn't about to roped in. His mind was in alternate universes where the canon was 3 times more powerful and the musket had a faster reload time, he imagined then how the Revolutionary and Civil wars would have been won then. The implications of a single tweak in a canon could be catastrophic.
He leaned back and threw his arm over the backside of the couch, he knew he wouldn't take it, but it was an invitation for Adrian if he needed to.

Adrian leaned gently against Dan's arm and sighed.

And apparently he needed to.
Dan was beginning to get used to seeing Adrian like this. Exasperated at all aspects of life. He was barely aging but Dan could see it in his eyes, the man was tired.
He rubbed Adrian's shoulder and inhaled contentedly; he could still smell Adrian's hair dye. He smiled and back to watching the documentary.

"Thanks," he said, with a weak smile.

Dan leaned over and placed a soft kiss on his cheek with a smile that said any time.
After a few minutes of watching the documentary, Bubastis came rolling in with a giant yawn and fell at Adrian's feet. Dan hadn't seen her all day, but being a giant genetically altered lynx he figured she spent most of the day like all house cats. The yawn was proof of that.

Adrian propped one foot up on Bubastis's shoulder. She made a pleased choofing noise.

"Such a strange animal" Dan commented with a warm chuckle.

"She's used to being used as an ottoman."

Dan looked down at the contented animal and shook his head "Hey to each their own" he leaned back and stretched his neck. Adrian's bed wasn't anything like his and he was still getting used to sleeping in it.
It didn't help that he was still spending most of his nights as a vigilante.

Bubastis exhaled and practically deflated in the process.
Adrian was looking at Dan.
"Your back's bothering you, isn't it."
