Dan gave Adrian a concerned look. He knew he hated it, but he couldn't help it.
"No, of course not" he replied softly "do you want me to make some tea?"

"The last time you tried to make green tea, you overheated it," said Adrian, with a bit of a tease in his voice.

"Right, sorry."
He chuckled and moved a bit allowing Adrian easier room to move.

"You're awfully predictable," Adrian said without getting up. "I haven't cut it since the time you were there. I was beginning to wonder if you'd even noticed and my efforts for your sake would go unnoticed and unappreciated."

"I noticed" he smirked "I may have been attempting to be subtle."
Dan took a piece between his fingers.

Adrian closed his eyes, a hundred subconscious objections rising in his mind against his own indolence, but he didn't move.

He shook his head gently.
The day must have been worse than he thought, because Adrian wasn't moving.

"For now, at least. You're going to be doing the majority of the parenting around here. You might choose to keep that in mind."

Dan was quiet.
This was something he'd been thinking of extensively. Permanent retirement was close and he knew it, but he wanted it to be on his terms.
