John chuckled and wiped his mouth with a napkin before standing up "Do you have a place where maybe she can lay down? If that is okay?"
He went over to Hazels chair and picked her up.

"Oh, sure. There's another room with a bed in it that doesn't get used much, but it's nice and neat so it should be okay."
She'd turned it into a guest room, not that she got many guests staying over. But she didn't really have anything else to fill it with, so, bedroom furniture it was.

Hazel snuggled up in to her fathers arms.
She was nine years old, but due to years of malnutrition the poor girl barely looked it. Luckily since John adopted her she'd been given the best he could afford and with Ms. Isa's help she got the medical attention that was proper for a girl her age.
She yawned as they went out of the room leaving Laszlo, Marie and Treszka alone.

Marie waited until her father was around the corner and turned to Laszlo very seriously "Is he doing okay? It's always hard to tell you know, with the way he holds the world on his shoulders."

"I think so. He's definitely in a much better mood thanks to our recent good fortune." He said, giving Treszka a smile.
"Between our hostess here and a friend of mine, I saw a lot of worry lines go away."

Marie smiled and replied with a quiet "Thank the lord".
She'd worried daily about her father, she knew Mr. Laszlo could take care of him well enough, but she also knew if there was something wrong he could hide it better than anyone. "Now that I'm getting older he doesn't talk to me as much, he doesn't want to worry me; but not knowing worries me more."

"I know what that's like. Not knowing can be a lot worse than knowing it."

"Exactly and I hate having to go behind his back you know?"

"It's a habit that drives me crazy," he quipped, but then he smiled.
"But you get used to it. It's part of who he is."

"Yea" she smiled and noticed her own aura changing just a little, it seemed to show just how content she was.
Nothing could go wrong.

Treszka opened her mouth to say something when the doorbell rang.
"Huh. Who could that be?"
Brow furrowed, she got up to answer the door. She wasn't expecting anyone else today, it had just been the Bristows and László.

"So...how about you? All things really good and not 'good' like how your dad says sometimes?"

"Perfect honestly, school is everything I always dreamed it would be and I'm making so many friends."

When Treszka opened the door, she had no idea who could be on the other side, but whatever her guess could have been, it hadn't been this. She stood there, staring in astonishment at Zachaire de Chagny standing there on her front step.

He had no idea what he was doing here, or what he would even say, or what Treszka would say. Somehow he'd managed to walk up to the door and knock in spite of his trepidations.
"Hello, Treszka."
