"As well they might. You have outstripped half of my staff in regards to physical prowess, and are proving quite handy with firearms."

Tybalt flushed and looked down at his lap.
"Training is... what I am used to doing."
In spite of the favorable impression he seemed to have made on Doom, he did not appear to realize he was being praised. The language involved was far too reminiscent of Escalus for him to quite make the connection.

"A month has passed within these walls. Doom thought it might be wise to mark such a milestone."

Tybalt was bewildered as to why but did not argue with what Doom saw wise for he was clearly much wiser than Tybalt.
"It is an honor to have served you." May I continue to do so well.

He laid his hands on the table.
"Would you prefer to pour your own wine?"

"...if you would wish it, my lord. I do not want to burden you, I am... only your servant, after all-"

Doom seemed honestly puzzled for a moment.
"You may do so."

Put him in a situation where one had to be lethal and Tybalt was masterful and terrifying, but give him a job as simple as pouring a drink and he was meticulous and awkward, though determined to prove right.

It was refreshing, this complete lack of pretense -- Tybalt was so transparent that he did not seem capable of willful deception. Doom poured his own glass, mostly to look at for the moment.

Tybalt was not certain that he could begin eating if his host was not - but then, it did not seem likely that Doom would be eating in his presence, and this was greatly confusing and uncomfortable for Tybalt. If Doom would not drink why had he poured a glass? He waited for Doom to propose an action for him.

After having seen enough, and a long moment of being distracted by Tybalt's hands (which would be well-suited for sorcery, that much was certain, provided the rest of the man was compliant) he leaned back and took a drink from his own glass by way of demonstration. It was a demonstration only, for only a modest mouthful actually reached his lips, but this whole business was theatrical to begin with.

Tybalt reached for his glass now hesitantly, fingers closing on its stem, but he didn't lift it to his lips, merely brought it a little closer to himself.

"I do not intend to slight you by not dining with you, Tybalt," Doom said, his voice a stern rumble. "Begin."

He did so, not beginning a conversation - he never did, or did so rarely, and often was mortified after asking Doom questions - but lifting his eyes frequently to Doom as though to communicate that he awaited his order and would stop eating if Doom so commanded it.

It was an awkward and uncomfortable bother that Doom could not join him. But even Tybalt, an ignorant foreigner, would recoil from his unmasked face and all it signified if he caught even a glimpse of it. Like all of them, all of these worms, he could never...
Victor grimaced and turned, his only concession to not just sitting there and watching Tybalt eat. But it passed in a moment.
"When the weather is more mild, perhaps you will be permitted to visit the surrounding countryside. It is very beautiful, and if you are inclined to take exercise by riding, or hunting..."
Tybalt was being fêted in a manner absolutely princely. When his family did get him back, they had better be properly thankful.
