"Is that a Parisian thing?" he said dryly.

"Is what- oh! No, it's just me being friendly," Herbert said cheerfully.

"Keep it down, then." Tybalt did not need to have the feeling he'd moved in with Mercutio nagging the back of his mind.

"All right, then."
He slipped his shirt off as he went into his own room.

Tybalt stared a little bit after him and numbly followed to the door, stopping just short of entering the doorway. "I'll - I'll see you when you're out, then, I suppose?"

Herbert glanced back over his shoulder at Tybalt; he'd been just about to start pulling off his breeches.
"What's that?"

Tybalt stared. "I'll see you when you're out," he repeated, and started swiftly off down the hall, hand up near his face uncomfortably, not looking back not looking back at all.
This was like living with Mercutio, just for entirely unexpected reasons.

The Herbert that emerged over an hour later was in a nightshirt that exposed some of his chest and ended above the knees, clearly made for a shorter man. His hair was loose, and he rapped on Tybalt's door.
"Hello?"

Tybalt had already moved his things in and was unpacking them. He'd gone through his clothes, of which there weren't all that many; anyway they were more or less indistinguishable from one another; and had started on another suitcase which was primarily full of very questionable items. He kicked the top of the suitcase over the rest, but the leather handle of a whip was clearly visible from inside it, and went to jerk the door open.
His eyes widened and then his expression became very flat, and he stepped back either to allow Herbert to enter or to show respect for his personal space.

"Did I leave my dressing gown in here?"

"I can honestly say I have no idea."

"May I look and make sure?" Herbert said as he pushed past him to start looking around.

He hesitated. The man was awfully bare-skinned. "Of course -"

"Oh, what's this-"
He reached for the handle of the whip and pulled it out, clearly fascinated.
"Someone is far more interesting than he lets on-"

"Don't bend down- "
He made a slightly strangled noise and turned abruptly, one hand cradling his temple, the other arm wrapped tightly around his own chest. He could still see Hebert with the whip out of the corner of his eye, but barely.
