With a front room, bedroom, parlor, and small kitchen, and of course a prime location, it was a very fine apartment for a singer. She'd acquired a small upright piano, fastidiously tuned, and altogether the parlor was charmingly laid out for vocal lessons.
Paris was winding up fine--she had a contract with the Populaire and they had some exciting auditions coming up. However, she missed german pastries. As such, with an open window, she was frying up some Berliners.

Sheesh, my plots have more conveniences coincidences than a Charles Dickens novel.
Kurt was a little peeved the person offering hadn't left a cell phone number or something in the ad, but it seems most people here didn't have them, and his cell phone coverage was remarkably spotty. Hm. At least he could still rely on his multilingual charm and natural sense of direction.
Maybe he laid on the doorbell a little hard, but it was accompanying the song in his head. Images of Mr. Schuster danced in his mind's eye, unfortunately literally. At least he wasn't rapping.

The door clicked open. Intercoms hadn't been invented yet, or she'd have said something along the lines of "come on up!" He'd find the door to her apartment slightly ajar.

He wandered in, conscious of the weird threat of French serial killers or something.

The buzz had alerted her to the imminent company, so she turned the heat off and moved the pan to a cool burner. A shake of powdered sugar, and the berliners were sitting out on a small end table.
She removed her apron and moved towards the front room, ready to greet was was presumably a prospective student.

The distinctive scent of something cooking filled the little apartment -- not an unpleasant one, but it reminded him he hadn't eaten since wriggling free of his host family. Not a frequent thing around the Hummel household, either, but it did smell fried. Ew.
"I'm looking for a Ms. Brauer--" Mrs.? Mr. with a typo?

"You mahst be--" as she entered the front room, but completed with a "fancy seeink you agenn." It wasn't actually said with any malice, she was simply amused that Gott in his Himmel would put them together again.

Again with the indignant cat look, though he calmed his tits kept his composure very well, given the circumstances.
"What a coincidence."

"Indeed. I assume you're here about the lessons?"
Very bold of him, going to a teacher who had requested sopranos and mezzos. Then again, technically he fit the description.

"Is that a problem?"
He'd been expecting someone a little... more French? Certainly less German. The newsboy cap came off, and he smoothed his hair. Didn't anyone here wear bright colors?

This was as true, and about as close to a compliment as anybody was going to get from her.

"Analiese Brauer. You may call me Miss Brauer, Mademoiselle Brauer, or Fraulein Brauer until I instruct you othervise." She gestured to the chairs, taking a seat in one herself. The price she candidly informed him of was reasonable--for her time period.
"End to the best off your knowledge, vhat is your range? Ve vill test it at sahme point eef you decite to study vith me, but just so that I heff an idea."
