*A handsome, golden-skinned young man dressed in dark evening wear stands in the wings, pretending to have an idle interest in the goings-on of the backstage life at the opera house, but in actuality keeping an eye out for a shadow above the stage. Tipping his cap farther forward, he leans against an unused piece of scenery and waits.*

*Gabrielle had finished her audition routine and was about to head ofstage, when a dark figure standing in the shadows caught her eye. Her crimson pointe shoes make delicate taps as she made her way to where the mysterious stranger* "monsieur" *she said, dipping into a small cursey, her black chiffon practice dress fanning out delicately with her movement*

*His hand brushed the brim of his cap in a gentle sign of respectful acknowledgement.* "Mademoiselle." *His voice was low and husky, with the trace of an exotic accent running throughout, like the steady pulse of a heartbeat beneath warm, smooth skin. He considered her a moment, then leaned forward in a bow without a flourish, (he was not a man for needless frippery,) taking her hand easily in his and placing a courtly kiss upon the back of her fair fingers.* "Shoma chetur hastin? And how are you this evening?"

*Gabrielle's pale complextion turned alight shade of pink when the man brushed his lips lightly against her hand. It took her jsut a moment to realize he had asked her a question, his persian (she oculd only assume) was so beautiful*"oh, lovely" *she smiled* "and you? it's not often I find people, much less men that aren't a part of the opera company backstage"

*The man smiled easily at the question and answered in warm tones, tinged with his faint and exotic accent.* "I haff often found myself fascinated by the goings-on in an opera house. I spend much of my time here--as a man of leisure, I have little of use to do with my life, and conventional entertainments bore me. What is there to be learnt in watching a play or simply sitting and listening to some music? Non, mademoiselle, what diversion and enjoyment is mine in learning how things work! In seeing how so many elements forming the one! The seemingly contradictory things that can produce perfection in their incongruous union! In forcing myself to look beyond the surperficial..." *His grin widened, and he turned his head at an angle, as though smiling directly at someone might have an improperly giddying effect.* "I confess I am rather obsessed with plumbing the depths of everything possible, mademoiselle--and at the moment I fear I am lost in those particularily captivating depths I find in your extraordinary eyes..." *His glance turned back to hers and his golden eyes, which held a rogueish tint behind their decorously affable facade, roved over her face unblinkingly.* "Pray tell me by what name I may aspire to humbly address such flesh-and-blood divinity?"

*Gabrielle, blushed and smiled elegantly looking away from his golden eyes, only to stare back in them, drawn to their complexity.* "Gabrielle Deslter" *she replied, her voice soft* "May I ask the same, of you, Monsiuer?"

*The man stared at her for a moment, then nodded gently. A smile drew up the corners of his lips, but little else moved his Sphinx-like features.* "Of course you have every right to ask any questions you wish, mademoiselle Destler, as does everyone. We run only the risk of being impertinent. But to answer--ah, that is something else, then. And I choose--no. For the time being." *His grin turned Cheshire-cat-like.* "And so I shall bid you adieu, m'amselle--for certainly we shall become further acquainted anon. But for now--it is good to part with questions unanswered. It will give us something to talk about when next we meet." *The man took her hand again, dipped his head over it, but did not kiss it this time, the gesture being a mere parting courtesy. Tipping his hat, he disappeared into the anonymity of darkness of the wings with a flash of white teeth.*

*as the man disappeared, Gabrielle held her hand to her chest. who was he?, she couldn't help but feel slightly flustered, and certinally flattered at his kind words. She wondered when their two paths would cross in the future* ((wow, loving your Nadir! I didn't know what to say to that at first ))

*Arielle wandered around the wings of the stage, feeling stomach flip with excitement at the thought of performing in...whatever the new opera was called. Or maybe it was just nausea. But she shook her head at this thought and slipped into a daydream, forgetting about the vomiting-ness and Teddy not responding when she pitched a tantrum and...everything*

((Shat. Teddy didn't respond, did he? Crap. Sorry. School's been a devilish mess today, and I've still got loads to sort out in the next week or so--attendance at Sueniverse may be spastic.))
*Mme. Giry strode through the wings towards the stage to conduct her usual ballet rehearsal. Seeing Arielle, she stopped a moment.* "Madame Laurence," *she said in a kindly tone, for if the truth be told, she liked Arielle's choice of husband much better than Marianne's.* ((*just realized how narcissistic that is.* Ehhh well.))

((Oh, it's fine, I just let her wail for a while. It's fun ;D))
*Arielle spun around, her dark eyes huge, then smiled* Madame Giry! How are you? *has The Glow*

*completely clueless and innocent* Oh, I'm doing pretty good. I had the thing with Teddy, and then with the baby...*Her eyes saddened for a moment* and I felt a bit under the weather this morning, but other than that it's been good.

((Sorry about the late replies--I've been playing with the design-a-t-shirt thing online. I just made a pair of panties with ***FADE OUT*** on the front and ***FADE IN*** on the back. ^__^))
*Mme. Giry tilted her head slightly towards Arielle.* "I must speak to you about your marriage--" *she halted for a moment.* "...you see, it is inappropriate for me to keep married women on the corps de ballet. I'm afraid you must leave us, dear. You have a new life now."

(( ;D That's too funny!))
*Arielle's eyes widened* Leave? But I haven't even been in any productions yet! *She fiddled with her wedding ring unconsciously* But then...how did you stay on even after you had Meg?
