"Speculation is always useless," she said, fixing her gaze on him once more.

"But of course," he smiled tightly. "And I'm a very curious man. I find I like it best when speculation gives way to discovery."
He leaped forward in a movement both abrupt and graceful, and made to throw Sydney back upon the bed behind her.

The bed? She thought it quite vanilla. If she was going to play this game, she was going to do it right.
But she decided that this would do for now.
Without changing their position, she seized him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him down into a rough kiss.

His face momentarily betrayed his surprise, but he quickly recovered and composed himself once more, and allowed his fingers to wind through her hair, attempting to gain the upper hand. He trailed a path of hot kisses to her throat and there, finding his lips deterred by the cold stones of her necklace, wrenched the jewelry away.
Little sparkling orbs of white scattered across the floor.

She grabbed his face with both hands and kissed him again, only this time, she bit down hard on his lip, drawing blood. She then turned them both over so that she would now be on top.
"That was an heirloom," she sneered, now straddling him. She grabbed his collar again and brought him up his her eye level.

"You can always get it repaired," he hissed, running the back of his sleeve across his cut lip and smearing the blood partially away.
Naturally, he couldn't bring himself to admit that he actually rather liked the pain. And her. Her ferocity and her unapologetic demeanor were...different. Revitalizing. Tantalizing.
North felt along the curves of her figure teasingly just prior to, without a word, tearing away her corset, shredding in the process the fabric composing what was once her incomparable scarlet evening gown.

She gave a soft moan as all that fabric slipped away from her and left her in only her shift. Sydney had no real objection to it but--
"And that dress was new," she bit out, slapping him across the face. A loud crack resonated through the room as her hand stuck his face.
'Well, two can play at that.'
Still straddling him, she quickly ripped away his bow tie, tossed it aside and ripped his shirt open.

((Bloody hell, I posted as Ned. Can you imagine his poor, innocent self caught up in this?))
"You can always purchase another one," he retaliated, smirking up at her through his haze of pleasure and pain. "My turn."
He entwined his legs and arms around her and violently shifted their combined weight, so that James was on top. He hastily divested himself of his shirt and lowered himself upon her, pinning down both her arms as he nipped at her lower lip.

((Oh man... Although, it's always the shy ones that are the closeted freaks. )) Sydney arched up against him as she tried to free herself from his hands, but the leverage he had gave him the advantage. She breathed heavily against his ear at the sensation of his lips around her ear and neck and for a moment, she closed her eyes and allowed herself to relish the feeling. Her body relaxed and her leg lifted slowly, traveling up one of his legs. It was tempting to just let it happen. But where would the fun be in that? Her shift in demeanour was lightening fast. She managed to quickly free one hand and roughly grabbed his chin, turning his head upwards so that he would be forced off of her. Once she was free, she quickly got off the bed and stood, ready for whatever would come next.

((*shiftily gazes around and runs away*))
He toppled onto the bed and allowed himself to lie there motionless, as he slowly caught his breath.
"Always on the move," he commented. "Don't you ever stay still?"

Sydney slowly sauntered back towards the bed and laid down on top of him, pressing herself flush against his bare skin.
"I could..." she sighed as she slowly slid downward, sliding her body and hands down his torso.
"But I was thinking more--"
Her hands never made it past his chest. Without warning, her hands darted upwards and took a hold of his neck.
"How's that?" she taunted close to his face, smiling as she tightened her grip.

"Wha--"
James swiped his hands at her in rage, wondering what sort of twisted nonsense she was playing at, but caught only air. He seethed inwardly and continued his efforts without success.
And while it certainly wasn't the time for forming thoughts, the strangest one came to him then.
The life was supposed to be draining out of him, but as his pulse raced at a deafening volume and adrenaline rushed madly through his veins, it would seem he had never felt more...alive. Even if his vision had begun to blur and his mouth was going dry.
Of course, never having experienced this before, this slightly frightened him.

The lack of oxygen seemed to have made him a bit suggestible and she took full advantage of that. She stood him up and backed him up against a wall.
"I think you're holding out on me, Mr. North," she cooed, pushing him harder against the wall. "What happened to the man in the opera box?"

He sneered. The man in the opera box was never far away.
With some effort, he pressed her to him and roughly grazed his lips against hers before tearing her shift in such a manner as to cause the both of them to fall to the floor.

The sound she made when she hit the floor wasn't that of pain or anger but of ecstasy. If it wasn't apparent before that she was enjoying this violent struggle for power, it was now.
She laid there under him, struggling, the tear in the front of her shift and their movements forcing her to show more skin than before. She laughed breathlessly, wanting to encourage his new found energy.
But Sydney wasn't content with the way things were.
With a renewed ferocity, she slapped him across the face-- harder this time, grabbed a hold of his hair and threw him off of her. She then quickly straddled him, using her legs to hold herself firmly against him so he wouldn't be able to throw her off. Once she was confident that he wasn't getting anywhere, she pulled the hem of her shift above her hips and made quick work of his belt and trousers.
When done, one hand pinned down his arm and the other painfully gripped his jaw.
And now, she would see how this experiment would really end...
