"You know what makes it seem so...out of reach? I'm scared of that, too." He laughed again, shaking his head.
"I'm afraid of the things I want! God, I make no sense."

John laughed "You know, I don't have an answer for everything, and that's one of those things you're just gonna have to figure out on your own. I'm starting to run out of sage advice."

"Well, that's fine. I don't need a sage, just...you." He said, with a gentle smile.

"Ah-" he blushed.

László reddened a bit, as well.
"So...so! How are things with you?"

John exhaled, glad to be off the subject "Well Marie is getting ready for school, Hazel has gotten in to the Opera ballet corp and I am seeing both of my girls grow up far faster then I can accept it."

"Well, that's good. And what about you?"
He didn't mind hearing about John's children, but they weren't what László'd asked about.

"I-" he didn't really talk about himself really, unless he was talking about a story that somehow tied in to someone else's issue.

"Yes...what is it?" He asked in a comforting tone.
He was no longer leaning against the counter with arms crossed, but instead had sat down at the kitchen table.

"I'm lonely."

"That makes two of us."
He thought, though, that of the two of them, John shouldn't have to be. Someone like him deserved to have all the good that he gave to others.
It wasn't until he'd finished speaking that it came to him that he'd said that out loud rather than only thought it, and reddened when he realized it.

He laughed softly and sat across from him at the table staring down at his tea "you mean, there's no one special in your life?"

The embarrassment drained away, and in it's place was some of his earlier melancholy.
"No. Who would want me?"
A tiny voice in the back of his said that it knew at least one that would, but he dismissed it. It was a fanciful thought, or that's what he told himself.

I would.
"Hey, hey that's not true."

((Aww.))
A memory, one that he'd long tried to keep buried, was threatening to surface. A memory of Dracheheim and...two people he'd once known.
"You sure about that?"
