Nadir's first order of business was to snag a glass of wine and find a corner to stand in where he needn't partake of the mindless chatter of others.
As he watched the guests, some laughed or smiled enough to display the glint of fangs.
Damn vampires. Everywhere I go it's vampires. At least I finally got that creeper Edward to leave me alone.

"Perhaps it has." *He whispered softly. For time was often complicated for anyone on the Verse in their professional sphere. But Death was happy there with her weight resting softly against him. He felt complete again, having been missing something that he couldn't place until just this moment.*
"So..." *He deduced at her comment.* "It is a good thing? To be here with these people?" *It wasn't that he didn't like the party, obviously he was blessed to be here with her, but he didn't really understand what it was like to have 'human' friends.*

Percy bent towards his wife.
"Your ladyship?" he murmured, gently slipping a handkerchief into her hand.
He turned and winked at Tony.
"Far too long indeed," he said more seriously. "We shall make an effort to come to Paris more often, and Austria as well."

((Poor Nadir. Maybe I can help))
Alexander entered the ballroom, and immediately recognized many of Paris' ancient families. He moved lightly through the ballroom, nodding to Lady Blakeney, frowning slightly at Henry VIII, and...
He stopped.
There, just ahead of him, stood Nadir.
Slowly, Alexander approached him.
"How long has it been since angel's wings thus doth my house?" he murmured softly.

"Perhaps it has." *He whispered softly. For time was often complicated for anyone on the Verse in their professional sphere. But Death was happy there with her weight resting softly against him. He felt complete again, having been missing something that he couldn't place until just this moment.* "So..." *He deduced at her comment.* "It is a good thing? To be here with these people?" *It wasn't that he didn't like the party, obviously he was blessed to be here with her, but he didn't really understand what it was like to have 'human' friends.* Demiselle smiled gently at her husband. "Are we not responsible for some of these people's lives?" she asked philosophically. "And do we not owe some of them a debt?" Her gaze rested on Vianne Blakeney, returned to Paris after many years in Persia with her husband. "Her I owe most of all," she said thoughtfully. Taking her husband's arm, they made their way down the staircase and into the room, and Demiselle turned and looked up at Death. "Are the children properly trained? I wish I had had a chance to see them myself."

"What?" snapped Nadir irritably as he turned towards the man who seemed to address him.
There was a moment of suspended silence before there came a ping as the glass in Nadir's hand cracked and shattered in his grip.

Alexander looked gently at him.
"Why do you stare as if you've seen a ghost?" he murmured softly. "I told you once I cannot die, beloved."

Taking the handkerchief, Vianne happily blew her nose briefly, hugging Percy's arm hard enough to possibly cut off his circulation, her smile wide, bright and shameless as she almost bounced on the balls of her feet like a small child. Her happiness was too much to be contained in that moment, even by her legendary reserve.

*Death's unusually fleshy face scrunched a bit at the thought, but as Demiselle pointed out Vianne, Death conceded the point. She had given them their most precious gift, and he would be eternally thankful.*
"Yes, of course." *But at the mention of the training, he slowed hestitantly.*
"They...well...they're still very...private." *He admitted.*
"And War has gone so...you know." *He quickly added.*

"...common report would have me believe otherwise," said Nadir slowly. Though his gaze burned into Alexander, their expression remained somehow hooded or hidden by some shadow as he took a piece of linen from his pocket and wiped the rivulets of wine and blood from his fingers before winding it around his hand.

((Working on getting the picture back up and running. Also... Howdy ladies))
*The rusty iron heels of his cowboy boots clacking hard against the floor of the hall, War eyes his surroundings. It seemed like he wasn't here a second ago. Like here didn't even exist. Shrugging he nudges the door open with one metal capped toe and peeks inside.*
"Well dip me in napalm and slap my behind..."
*His thoughts drift momentarily to Lucy before he focuses on the sad sack of skin and bones across the room. Shoving the door open more he steps in, the seemingly incongruously angry grin spreading across his lips.*
"Careful there Skinny. It'd be sad to see your nose grow while you're all dressed up in the fleshbag."
*War snagged a beer from a passing waiter as he approached the pair.*

Though his gaze burned into Alexander, their expression remained somehow hooded or hidden by some shadow as he took a piece of linen from his pocket and wiped the rivulets of wine and blood from his fingers before winding it around his hand. Gently, Alexander took his hand and wound the linen more firmly. Then he looked closely at his old friend. "You weren't expecting to see me," he said slowly. "You don't want to see me..."

((WAARRRR! I MISSED YOU ALMOST AS MUCH AS I MISSED MY HUSBAND!)))
Demi's green eyes widened in amusement.
"Darling," she purred, "War is not gone. See?"
She turned and faced the harbringer of conflict.
"I see they'll let anyone into the court these days," she said archly, but her sharp words were diffused with a smile.

"Should I have expected you?" Nadir pulled his hand away, ignoring the twinge of agony. "Every time you disappear without a word? How long are you staying for, this time?"
