Even opera singers were invited.
Christine hung around by herself, sipping champagne and watching the people. It had been a long time since she'd been at a party like this, and she couldn't say she had missed it too terribly... however, the host being the King and all, she supposed she should put in an appearance. Ed was busy with some film or other, so she had been forced to come alone.
Canon had come to bless the gathering.

She doubted they were discussing her story-telling abilities any longer, and was going to say something witty when the dance ended. She stepped away from her partner and clapped for the musicians, a small smile playing about her lips. "It seems we must disengage, as it were, for the time being. I'm sure your attention is desired elsewhere." He have her a little bow, pausing to applaud the musicians as well before responding. "Sadly, you are right, and I must take my leave for now. I hope we can continue our discussions in the future."

"Perhaps."
With that, she curtseyed and scurried off to find Sophie.

Sir Percy turned to the tall slender man who joined Violetta. "Sir Percy Blakeney, m'dear fellow," as he lazily lifted his monocole and peered through it at Zachaire. "Delighted, old chap. Simply delighted." "Pleased to make your acquaint--" As he was talking, the man's name finally sunk in, and glanced first at his sister and then at Vianne in astonishment. "Truly? Ah, forgive me! It is an unexpected but pleasant surprise, to meet long-lost family...I am happy to meet you at last. "

Sophie was nearby, and quirked an eyebrow at Kat when she caught the other woman's eye...and a teasing smile.

Kat almost giggled. "Sophiesophiesophie you will never ever guess who I just danced with. Actually, you will; you probably saw."

"Oh, I saw all right," she said with a wink.
"Now you have to tell me how is it you know Henry Tudor!"

Kat laughed. "In a terribly boring turn of events... at the library."

*Erik wasn't exactly clear as to why he was here, but there had been rumor that Christine would be in attendance and that made the matter into a simple decision. Where she was, he would be; for in the end she would see the error of her ways and decide that he had been correct all along. And then she would return to him and the music, content to live in the cellars with Erik and Julian and Mortimer and they would sing and all would be perfect.
But she had not done so yet and now would be a time of planning and watching. Such things were important in any scheme, especially if said scheme was complicated by a woman. So now Erik lurked most masterfully in the shadows, watching the mass of people swirl about, oblivious to his presence.*

*Death was so excited he was practically bouncing as he tugged nervously at the skin that clung over his bony frame. It seemed tighter than it had been last time he'd worn it. He wondered if he'd put on weight in his old again. But he didn't feel old right at this moment. He felt like a school boy (or at least what he understood they often experienced), giddy with delight as his gaze darted over the crowd.
It had been so long since they'd had any time for the two of them with the kids and the job and general mayhem that seemed to be ever present in the city. But a night out, that was just what they needed to get back to how things had been and could hopefully be again.*

*Eric strolled in quite casually, though he was dressed sharp as ever. Parisians did seem to enjoy there parties and he was perfectly content to enjoy its party goers. He smiled wolfishly over the assembled mass, as if trying to pick from a lavish menu.
So many beauties, so little time.*

Demiselle stole up behind her husband and laughed lightly.
"You look like a puppy," she said, ignoring the male beauty in his face and focusing on his inability to stay still.
Tucking her hand in his arm, she surveyed the crowd.
"So many of the old families of Paris are here," she mused.

*Death's nervousness eased at her touch, but it was quickly replaced by that warm tingle that, while familiar, had been dearly missed.*
"I suppose." *He admitted, shrugging sheepishly.*
"Though I am not one to appreciate the length of a human lineage. But I suppose it is important. To them." He offered with a timid smile.*

"Some of the best years of my life were in Paris," Demiselle said softly, squeezing her husband's hand.
She turned to look at him, eyes glowing softly.
"I have missed you. It feels like it's been years."
She tucked her head against his chest and watched as couples danced and conversed.
"It's strange, I feel as though so many of them are old friends."

"Oh! Forgive me," said Vianne, blinking rapidly and sniffing lightly as she looked at the range of faces that surrounded her, each looking so strangely familiar. "I just...never thought...it has been so very long since we saw any of our family..." Meg WHO?
